Olympians get first taste of Sochi’s ’unique’ hospitality…

So, the 2014 Winter Olympics are about to begin in Sochi, Russia – also the site of this Autumn’s inaugural Russian GP.
But despite a ridonkulous amount of cash spent on building the Olympic village ready for the games, the world’s athletes and media have descended on Sochi to find out that things aren’t exactly what you would call ‘finished’ yet…
If things in Sochi are this bad less than five days before the Winter Olympics begin, what are the chances of there being similar issues when the F1 teams roll into town?5th February 2014, 13:57 at 1:57 pm #248508Bradley DowntonParticipant
The toilet audience is just another of Bernie’s schemes.
Anyone who uses the toilet with everyone else watching gets triple point in Sochi!5th February 2014, 22:06 at 10:06 pm #248509RatboyKeymaster
The paper in the bin is common across other nations but the rest are bad,

on the bright side, you have front row seats right there!
seriously though, if anyone expects a better situation at Sochi Grand Prix must be delusional. they spent over 50 BILLION on the games, and that’s what we’ve got.6th February 2014, 7:13 at 7:13 am #248511AnonymousInactive
Mind you the equivilent to 50billion rubles is like 14milllion USD.
Still a lot of money of course but to really make a whole park and a race track with that amount of course there was going to be corners cut.
I don’t have high hopes for either the Olympics or the GP.6th February 2014, 7:31 at 7:31 am #2485126th February 2014, 7:40 at 7:40 am #248513zimkazimkaParticipant
that’s correct, 50 billion USD.6th February 2014, 9:01 at 9:01 am #248514AnonymousInactive
My bad, too be honest i was hoping it was rubles because quite frankly, $50billion is a lot of money.
Wow they messed up.6th February 2014, 10:04 at 10:04 am #248515GeeMacParticipant
Hang on, 50 billion USD? If the Olympics was a country it would have about the 75th largest GDP in the world (about the same as places like Guatamala and Luxembourg). That can’t be right surely.6th February 2014, 10:49 at 10:49 am #248516Force MaikelParticipant
Little fact: it’s only the Americans that are reporting these problems. Local news here in Belgium called their delegation in Sochi and they said everything was being blown out of proportion by the Americans. If the USA has such problems with Russia and its policies then they should have boycotted the games but they don’t want to risk their medal count so now they resort to such childish actions.6th February 2014, 12:04 at 12:04 pm #248517Magnificent GeoffreyParticipant
@force-maikel But it’s not just the Americans who are reporting problems. I’ve seen Canadians, British and more reporting problems…
I really don’t see how you can use this to attack the Americans at all…6th February 2014, 12:28 at 12:28 pm #248518robk23Participant
I’ve just seen the image of the framed picture of Vladimir Putin on the reception desk at the hotel. It looks a bit disturbing, did Russia revert to communism?6th February 2014, 12:41 at 12:41 pm #248519KLCC88Participant
yeah…I was thinking at one point that it would be cool to go to Sochi for the GP…I had “Picture” Russia being more of a place then what has been shown on twitter thus far….oh well…guess I’ll book the ticket to Austin.. :-)
Wonder which room Bernie will be staying in?6th February 2014, 12:41 at 12:41 pm #248520AnonymousInactive
