I’ve done a blog entry on this, but I’m copying it here because this thread inspired the entry:

This entry was inspired by a forum thread in F1 Fanatic entitled The Secret Life of… …you.

Q: Are you the kind of woman to have a Plan-B?

    Yes. Usually I need it…

Q: Who is your dream date?

    I don’t have one.

Q: Which film last made you cry?

Beethoven’s 2nd. Unfortunately I was crying with boredom!

Q: What are you afraid of?

Extreme stupidity inflicted by the very powerful on those with little power. In other words, power-drunkeness or power abuse.

Q: What was the last book you read?

Read as in read? “Ender in Exile” by Orson Scott Card, during the MotoGP race. I typically have 2-3 books plus a magazine on the go at once.

Read as in completed? “Fairs and Festivals of India” by Professor Ramesh Chandra yesterday.

Q: What is your favourite way to relax?

    Watching F1.

Q: Have you ever – or would you ever – dye your hair?

Wouldn’t even consider it and am slightly baffled at people who do.

Q: Name five things that you hate?

Lying, deliberate stupidity, prejudice, unexpected loud noise… …and baked beans.

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

See my response to the hair-dyeing question.

Q: What did your teachers say about you in your school reports?

Academically, they tended to say I was brilliant, determined and an asset to my class. The one exception was PE; my primary teachers stated quite bluntly that I was hopeless except at the sports day obstacle course (where my forward planning ability compensated for my lack of speed, dexterity and agility) until my final year there, where I was the first (and as far as I know only) student in my class to compete in a sport for my country. At which point the reports got amended to “hopeless at land sports… …and the obstacle race on Sports Day”.

Socially… …they got slightly frustrated, particularly at secondary school. Thankfully I improved a lot at sixth form.

Q: Who were your childhood heroes?

I didn’t go in for that sort of thing, considering it better to look up to concepts and accept that everyone is a patchwork of good, bad and middling.

Q: Do you have any guilty pleasures?

This concept does not make sense to me.

    Q: Do you collect anything?

F1 stuff. Especially Formula 1 Yearbooks (still looking for 1998, 1999 and 2001 in English and the pre-1997/2009 ones which I believe are only available in French), Jordan/Midland/Spyker/Force India and Fisichella-related items. I used to collect dinosaur-related stuff and badges when I was little and still have both collections.

Q: What was your worst buy?

An introduction to teaching course at a college which didn’t seem to have much clue how to teach it. Thankfully the second place I tried was a lot better.

Q: How do you take your coffee?

    I don’t.

Q: Your ideal non-race Sunday morning?

Reading books and playing on my computer.

Q: What was your first vehicle?

    A 1:43 1995 Sauber with Heinz-Harald Frentzen in it… …oh, you mean drivable vehicle? Hasn’t happened yet!

Q: Whats the most embarrassing mistake youve ever made?

I’m not sure I’d recognise “embarassing” in myself if I ever felt it, so I can’t answer this one.

Q: What is the best thing you can cook?

I can just about manage an omlette.

Q: When was the last time you were really angry?

Two weeks ago. Suffice to say that there was a letter, several very confused people and four of the five things I most hate involved.

Q: Are you the kind of guy to have a Plan-B?

Only when I admit to myself that Plan A really sucks…

Q: Who is your dream date?

Um… there’s a girl who works downstairs in our building who doesn’t know I exist…

Q: Which film last made you cry?

    Oh dear… Love Actually!

Q: What are you afraid of?

Razors, needles, sharp knives, nail guns – anything I can justifiably fear might pierce my skin.

Q: What was the last book you read?

    Revelation, by CJ Sansom.

Q: What is your favourite way to relax?

A fast, top-down thrash in my car, on deserted twisty roads at night :)

Q: Have you ever – or would you ever – dye your hair?

I would, for money or charity, but never for vanity! If I ever go grey I might change my tune on this.

Q: Name five things that you hate?

Cooked mushrooms, people who cheat in relationships, traffic jams, Nick Knowles (presenter of DIY SOS), and whoever vandalised my car recently.

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

Not yet, but have been considering a tattoo for the last 3 years…

Q: What did your teachers say about you in your school reports?

Bright and capable, but lazy and disorganised. Infuriating to teach!

Q: Who were your childhood heroes?

Damon Hill, Biggles, James Bond, and Bananaman.

Q: Do you have any guilty pleasures?

    Driving fast.

    Q: Do you collect anything?

    Interesting moneyboxes/piggybanks.

Q: What was your worst buy?

A six-month pass to my local swimming pool, just before the season started. Haven’t used it yet.

Q: How do you take your coffee?

In cake or Revel form only.

Q: Your ideal non-race Sunday morning?

Leisurely lie in, including enjoying some unspeakable acts with aforementioned girl from work, before completing the Times cryptic crossword over a generous cooked (by someone else!) breakfast.

Q: What was your first vehicle?

Technically, the K-reg Renault Clio I had for 3 weeks in 2002. Spiritually, the D-reg Vauxhall (Casa)nova which replaced it – lasted me through 6th form and the first year and a half of uni, before getting stolen :( So many memories!

Q: Whats the most embarrassing mistake youve ever made?

I once appeared on stage to play a flute solo in a school concert when I was about 12. Instead of playing, I just shrugged to the audience and ran off stage – I had lost my music!

Q: What is the best thing you can cook?

    Chinese stirfry with noodles.

Q: When was the last time you were really angry?

I’m very, very rarely angry and am not sure if I can remember the last time.

Q: Which film last made you cry?

Ring of Bright Water (don’t judge me)

Q: What are you afraid of?

    People I love getting hurt

Q: What was the last book you read?

Listening to music on the beach

Q: Have you ever – or would you ever – dye your hair?

Crap cars, thai food, milky coffee, rain and not being able to fix the car’s flat battery

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

    Pierced ears

Q: Are you the kind of guy to have a Plan-B?

Usually, even my Plan A involves a bit of ad lib.

Q: Who is your dream date?

    My girlfriend.

Q: Which film last made you cry?

Depends on how you define “cry” – my eyes tend to moisten a bit at the slightest hint of emotion these days. Like when Massa won the race but not the title at Brazil 2008.

Q: What are you afraid of?

Lots of things, but mostly loneliness.

Q: What was the last book you read?

Q: Have you ever – or would you ever – dye your hair?

Been going grey since I was 19, but no.

Q: Name five things that you hate?

Around 700 worth of studio time in 2008. This may turn out to be not that bad if the upcoming album is a success.

Q: How do you take your coffee?

Not at all. I prefer tea, with no milk/sugar.

Q: Your ideal non-race Sunday morning?

    Pancakes! Every single Sunday!

Q: What was your first vehicle?

A red 2004 Ford Focus, “inherited” from my mother. A few months later a cab crashed into the driver door (while I was driving). Traded up to a blue 2006 Focus, mainly because of side air bags.

Q: What’s the most embarrassing mistake you’ve ever made?

I tend to get over the embarrassment quickly, so nothing comes to mind right now.

Q: What is the best thing you can cook?

Fried eggs. With other stuff thrown in.

Q: When was the last time you were really angry?

A few days ago in traffic. Sometimes it seems like I’m the only one with any knowledge of traffic laws in this country.

Haha, a little yes – although the constant speed thing tends to apply mainly to motorway driving. The number of times someone passes me, slows down, repasses me and then slows down again is ridiculous, especially if they stay in the outside lane. That’s how traffic jams get started!

Actually, re reading my list of hates I’d like to get rid of the Daily Mail and replace it with caravans. Caravans are the worst things in the history of space and time, ever.
