ParticipantThis dropped into my sub box today, it’s a very interesting interview with the guy in charge of Volkswagen’s motorsports commitments (Volkswagen the brand, not VAG) which really helped me understand the mindset of big corporations. I stuck this in the WRC group as that’s what they talk about most, but he also flatly ruled out any involvement in F1, so it seems we’re not getting any VW badged engines any time soon.

ParticipantVW have repeatedly denied plans to join Formula 1 several times now. I don’t know why people insist that their entry to the sport is imminent.
Anyway, you couldn’t have timed this thread any better if you had tried – the formal presentation of the Polo R WRC will be made at 7:30pm tonight.
It’s widely-expected that Red Bull will be backing the team, given their close association with Skoda in the IRC and ERC in the past. Here’s a mock-up of what the car might look like:

ParticipantI was kind of hoping they would keep the colour scheme from the video, Red Bull are a bit ubiquitous these days

Participant@sigman1998 No, Placido Domingo was on the podium at the Hungaroring, Jacky Ickx is the interviewer in this video (He also did the podium interviews in Belgium)

ParticipantThe car looks nice, pretty modest approach from the Red Bull side of things. Thanks for sharing the interview.
