As a follower of F1 as well, there are rumours that Renault have made some serious steps with their engine over the winter break. Their ambitions in F1 are still there, clearly, but I did find it funny at first thay while other manufacturers have been leaving engine formulas for electric, Renault have done the reverse.
From the first race in…[Read more]

I agree. Not to always compare Formula 1 but when I think about several changes there’ve been, that I disliked initially, I’ve largely gotten used to it within a few races. Take the raspy exhaust blown diffuser era or the massive reg change in 2014. Even the halo!
In the inaugral Formula E race I really noticed it to start, but there was such an…[Read more]Ash joined the group

Just seen that the Zurich layout was revealed about a month ago.
This is the satellite view of it.
Disappointingly, although it might work out better, the track seems to be run in the wrong direction. However, the run down to turn 10 and then the run from turn 10 to turn 1 are both about equal in…[Read more]

That amazed me the first time I attended a GP to hear the start of the race even when I was at the opposite side of the track. And that remains a strong memory of the experience.
However, I think we can live without and we will get other source of satisfaction. Probably that if you take someone to a race in 10y and bring that story about the…[Read more]

I like the sound of engines and I would miss them but in all honesty I doubt that would last more than a few races.
If I listed everything I like about motorsport the sound would be far from my priority and in the 4 years I’ve watched Formula E it was only the first 2 races I noticed the sound, I think the racing itself is more important.

Sam Bird has been the ‘almost’ man for the past 3 seasons, just on the outskirts of the title fight. I’d be tempted to put money on him, but can’t believe Renault and Buemi have dropped the ball from last season to this. Should be a tight one!

Considering how previous seasons went, I find it even difficult to predict who is going to be in the top three. In that regard is F1 more straightforward, after two races you now very often who are going to be the championship contenders.

Lucas di Grassi, Sebastien Buemi and Nelson Piquet Jnr all have a chances to become Formula E’s first two-times champions this year. But after the season-opening double-header in Hong Kong none of them are inside the top five.
Who’s going to clinch the championship this year? Felix Rosenqvist has gone very well since he arrived in the series, Sam…[Read more]

Just got around to updating the Formula E calendar following the news a few days ago that the season finale double header at Montreal has been cancelled:

Well, Punta del Este has been confirmed as the replacement for the Brazilian round. Never been so happy to be wrong. Guess you never know!

That’s a shame, I was looking forward to a new track. At least we still have 3 other new ones though, and the 2 that have been revealed so far look good to me, purely from a layout perspective.

I like how the media here are sorta hyping Brazil being dropped from the schedule since it could mean Punta del Este would be back. As if. Unfortunately, childish government disputes scared FE away from Uruguay. I bet they’re just fine with Buenos Aires and Santiago.
Don’t get me wrong, I wish so hard Punta could be back on the schedule, but as I…[Read more]
