Agree 100% on COTD. Alonso 2013 was the single greatest championship campaign I’ve seen in over 30 years following the sport. He was a force of nature all season and those two incidents were the only reason h […]

Aussie Rod commented on the post, Which team has the best driver line-up on the 2023 F1 grid? 4 months, 1 week ago
Precisely.
Put Daffy Duck in the 2nd Red Bull for all I care, Verstappen’s presence alone makes it the best line up on the grid.

Aussie Rod commented on the post, F1 grid penalties face rethink over teams' "strategic power unit changes" 6 months, 1 week ago
Agreed. Give them more engine allowances or eliminate the rule altogether. Cost cap will regulate any negative effects.
The penalty system is fine and there is no issue with teams using the system tactically. […]

Aussie Rod commented on the post, Russell's first grand prix victory means F1 has a dozen winners – for one race only 6 months, 1 week ago
There have always been stats for wins, poles and flaps. Is F1 now going to create a new category for sprint wins or is this stat going to be ignored until they (hopefully) disappear from the calendar I wonder.

Aussie Rod commented on the post, F1 mustn't let post-season budget cap rows become a regular occurrence 7 months, 1 week ago
Any penalties for breaches should be written into the rules so it is clear and transparent for all (inc fans).
Something along the lines of:
Breach over 5% = a penalty of position(s) in both drivers and […] -

COTD should have simply ended with ‘I have no idea’.
The rest of it was simply more moaning. -
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Verstappen not dwelling on chance to clinch title this weekend 8 months ago
I never understood if Schumacher was genuinely trying to orchestrate the closest finish in F1 history as he claimed in the press conference afterwards. Or if he was simply slowing right down for a crawling […]

‘His lead peaked at 32 points approaching mid-season, before Hamilton ground it down and overhauled him’.
Yeah I guess that’s one way to describe what happened in Silverstone and Hungary.

Irrespective on how the Alpine mess plays out, I’m enjoying the fact that Piastri has suddenly gone from completely left-out in ‘22 to in-demand in ‘23. His junior record deserves it.
Personally I can’t see him […]

Wow what a bombshell.
Think about this… Red Bull need a team mate for Verstappen in 2025. It won’t be Gasly or Tsunoda.
Mark Webber has close ties to both Red Bull and Porsche.
So perhaps its not McL […]

Amen to that.
The excitement levels drop dramatically for circuits such as Paul Ricard, irrespective of how well track limits are enforced. Physical limits are needed to maintain the spectacle of the sport. As […]
