Avro Anson commented on the post, Mercedes "should be competitive" in Sochi after run of "messy races" 4 weeks, 1 day ago
It’s difficult to see what value there is in re-hashing these incidents weeks after the event. Whenever there is a contentious occurrence there will be immediate debate, generally with most commenters being firmly […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Vettel: No other team has this big a gap between cars 10 months, 1 week ago
@kuvemar I think you’re right. Vettel burst on the scene as an arrogant young thing and won four world championships in a car that was superior to anything else on the grid. So long as he was able to get pole, he […]
Yeah, the ads got to me too, so I coughed up. It’s only a small amount and make the site experience very much better.
Quite agree @red-andy. Sometimes it’s hard to take this sport seriously. @RocketTankski has the right idea!
Avro Anson commented on the post, Perez "deserves to be in F1 as much as anyone" – Sainz 1 year, 1 month ago
I once had dinner with the TV producer of some of the Australian Grands Prix in Adelaide. He told me that every sponsor is guaranteed “X” number of minutes & seconds screen time under Bernie’s rules. This led to […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Ricciardo expects podium finish in second season at Renault 1 year, 8 months ago
@Alvaro – yes, McLaren have won WDC and WCC as a customer team, but at that time the engine manufacturer wasn’t fielding its own team. McLaren were the default works team. This wouldn’t be the case if Mercedes are […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Ferrari adopts "let them race" policy for Vettel and Leclerc 1 year, 8 months ago
This will end in tears – Vettel is not and never has been a team driver. He has form taking out his team mates going back a decade. Though he didn’t take out Ricciardo, because he couldn’t catch him.
Avro Anson commented on the post, Which F1 team has the strongest driver line-up for 2020? 1 year, 9 months ago
Ferrari has potentially the best lineup, but Vettel is looking more and more like a spent force and the team keep messing up Le Clerc’s chances. If Vettel could get his head together (unlikely) and the pit wall […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Ricciardo using off-season to build relationship with Renault 1 year, 9 months ago
It’s interesting and somewhat disturbing that the responsibility for team building and morale has fallen to the driver. This is surely a KPI for senior management. Something is lacking at Renault if Ricciardo […]
Another poor season by Vettel. In fact the latest in a string of poor seasons, ever since Ricciardo beat him comprehensively at Red Bull. Vettel is a very fast driver, but has never been (and never will be) a […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Ricciardo given three-place grid penalty for reversing into Kvyat 2 years, 5 months ago
Said he was sorry*
The main reason Supercars went to the multiple race format is that some of the tracks are extremely short – eg Wanneroo has a lap time of around 55 seconds. This is OK for sprints but not for longer events. The […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Ferrari fined €50,000 for Raikkonen pit error which injured mechanic 3 years, 6 months ago
Once again there is huge inconsistency from the stewards. A 50,000 fine is not even beer money for Ferrari. But a few years ago they were handing out drive-through and grid place penalties for this kind of […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Haas fined over pit errors which put both cars out 3 years, 7 months ago
There seems to be a huge inconsistency here. IIRC Ricciardo got a drive through plus a grid penalty (10 spots?) for a loose wheel a couple of years ago. 5000 euro is nothing to these teams.
One has to wonder […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, "Lucky" Webber honoured to join Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame 3 years, 10 months ago
@holdenv8 Very true what you say. The cost and logistical issues of living half a world away must make things very difficult for Australian & NZ drivers trying to make it big in Europe. In addition to those you […]
Avro Anson commented on the post, Teams still undecided over whether to keep shark fins 3 years, 11 months ago
I think it’s time we stopped trying to regulate aesthetics. Limitations should relate to safety and limiting costs, not what the thing looks like. Adrian Newey has many times bemoaned the overwhelming amount of […]
Yeah, it was funny the first time. Not so much now.
Is the Brabham thing another window sticker arrangement with about as much provenance as a Tag Heuer engine or the hideous reincarnation of Lotus? … Fishing a label out of a bin does not give you automatic […]
