If I don’t see at least one car in the Martini livery, I’ll be massively disappointed, whatever the alternative is…
Unfortunately alcohol advertisement is banned in France, so not a good idea for a Le Mans car unfortunately.

2nd February 2012, 20:57 at 8:57 pm #191829deanmachineParticipant@Renner I think it’s because the winner of Le Mans gets the number 1, even in other Le Mans series.
Like I think whoever won Le Mans was number 1 at Sebring and Petit Le Mans even if they didn’t win the ALMS the year before.
2nd February 2012, 17:26 at 5:26 pm #191825deanmachineParticipantHmm, the Audi is registered as a Hybrid, have they confirmed themselves as running an R18 hybrid or have the FIA spilt the beans?
31st January 2012, 21:25 at 9:25 pm #191486deanmachineParticipantWell didn’t Lotus get a large grant from the British Government to develop their manufacturing facilities? Not saying this money is going direct into their motorsport divisions from the government grant, but them not having to invest their own money in their manufacturing it could go into promoting the company?

I’ll definitely be watching this though, the Corvette prototype actually looks nice compared to the other fat proportioned Daytona Prototypes you normally see.
28th January 2012, 2:42 at 2:42 am #191239deanmachineParticipant@igloo22 John Hindhaugh & Joe Bradley are doing it for Radio Le Mans, not sure if they’re going to be on the TV coverage though.
Funnily enough, Joe Bradley is one of my lecturers at College, and he’s never stopped going on about going to this bloody race since he found out he was going a few months ago!

28th December 2011, 19:09 at 7:09 pm #188143deanmachineParticipantExactly, it has extremely narrow front tyres too. I would not like to be the person driving into Indianapolis for the first time in that car.
They must’ve done something about the front end grip, because it has no wings as such, would it just be the downforce of the underbody that creates the front end grip somehow?
27th December 2011, 13:05 at 1:05 pm #188136deanmachineParticipantYeah it’s got the carbon tub from the binned AMR-One so it doesn’t need to pass many FIA safety tests, since the Aston already has.
27th December 2011, 11:25 at 11:25 am #188134deanmachineParticipantIt does look incredible like, it’s only getting a really small turbo engine too I think (2 litres maybe?) But it’s meant to be incredibly slippery as well as producing considerable downforce, I think it uses ground effect. But they say it can genuinely turn corners rather well, can’t wait to see it in action.
Does anyone know when it first runs? Sebring maybe?
6th September 2011, 17:39 at 5:39 pm #177325deanmachineParticipantOh how I wish I’d done that intentionally haha!
4th September 2011, 4:27 at 4:27 am #177319deanmachineParticipantThis could actually have potential if the FIA doesn’t restrict it too much. Electric vehicles are almost definitely the future, just not with regular batteries powering them.
It could be a good development method for other types of fuel cells, although endurance racing would probably help more so.
