Should the FIA have red-flagged the race after Latifi’s crash? That would have given a few more racing laps and equal tires for Lewis and Max. Given how late in the race the crash happened, It seemed like the better option.

Laguna Seca anyone?
Michael commented on the post, F1 polls fans on replacing qualifying with 30-minute reverse grid races 1 year, 8 months ago
No, no, no. I know that F1 could use more excitement, but not this. This will just lead to more sandbagging and more artificiality.
Give the rules changes a chance, then see about changing the tracks.
Not this.

Here’s a thought, don’t require a cost ceiling, but allow increased prize money for those who do stay below whatever the cost cap is (obviously the cost cap would not include end of year prize money).

Yep, this looks like a good idea. Anyone see a problem with it?

This. Exactly this. this is what got me into F1 and I don’t want it to go away.

On the subject of aerodynamics, how much rear downforce is achieved from the rear diffuser and how much from the rear wing? A thought I had a while back is to reduce the dirty air by increasing the percentage of […]

I have to agree, I saw that pass and didn’t think for one second that it was in any way dangerous or inappropriate.

Absolute snoozer. I had more fun reading old webcomics during the race than watching the race itself. Oh well, here’s hoping for next time.

That was a cracker of a race, the Lap 1 drama, the slow build of tension, and the epic last 10 laps. We need more like this.
Michael commented on the post, Is danger an essential part of Formula One? 6 years ago
Yes and no.
There will always be danger in going fast, that’s just physics. But consider that no one in Formula 1 is there unwillingly. They have all raced extensively and are fully cognizant of the risks. […]

Was it just me, or did the first few laps before DRS was enabled have more good racing than I have seen in a long time? I wonder what a DRS-free race would look like. The same cars and drivers, just no DRS.

NO, No no no no no. This is not GP2, or F3000 where everyone is looking for bigger and better things, this is Formula 1. This is where you are looking to arrive at. If you want to make it more interesting, then […]

Why don’t they just use armored glass (like on military vehicles) for a standard windscreen? No problems with getting the driver out of the car and-if it was designed properly-a substantial increase in safety. I […]

Much as I might hate to admit it, it has to be Hamilton, he drove a flawless race with absolute perfection. Yes, I know no one was really pushing him after the first few laps, but to maintain that level of […]

I have a proposal – go back to show up money. Many years ago, when track owners held races to make money, they would pay teams who started races a fee just for showing up. FOM could do this one of two ways, […]

IndyCar, they still use ground effects to generate downforce and are (arguably) faster in a straight line than an F1 car as there is less emphasis on cornering.
