I thought Grand Am was going to join this too. Obviously the ALMS merger has changed that.

I’m fairly sure Alguersuari has already been signed to replace Kobayashi. I think Hulkenberg would be driving alongside Alguersuari. Telmex have already announced that they will stay as a sponsor with Sauber for 2013 despite Gutierez not being announced as a driver.

Hulkenberg won’t go to Sauber and I’m pretty sure Alguersuari has already signed with them. The question is whether they will get Kobayashi or Gutierez alongside him. It will probably come down to money. I get the vibe that Sauber and Kobayashi is not going to be an item next season.

Obviously Massa doesn’t deserve the seat just because he got one podium.
The danger for a young driver in going to Ferrari for a year is that they may not get another competitive seat for 2014. So, what if Ferrari get either Ricciardo or Vergne for a year, then swap with Vettel at the end of next year?

    I think it will be:

    1. Alonso
    2. Hamilton
    3. Raikkonen
    4. Vettel
    5. Button
    6. Webber

McLaren will be constructors champions from Red Bull.

@kingshark You’re forgetting Raikkonen. The Lotus will be Faster than the Red Bull in the remaining races. Trust me, I’m a doctor.

    Every year? Oh my!

Three of the four years they’ve been team mates, Webber has been ahead in the points at the halfway mark of the season.

Every year he does a god job and is ahead of Vettel halfway through the year, then he signs a new contract for the next year and he is suddenly nowhere near as competitive as he previously was.

Hamilton and Raikkonen have faster cars than Vettel. I think they’ll finish second and third respectively but no one will catch Alonso. Button will also be ahead of Webber.

why assume he will be destroyed by Alonso?

It’s what Alonso does, especially with the full support of Ferrari.
Fisichella was supposed to be a very competent driver, capable of beating anyone, but after two seasons at Renault where he won two races compared to Alonso’s fourteen, his reputation was in tatters. Nelson Piquet Jr. was one of the best up-and-coming drivers, but after one and a half years racing for a Fernando-biased Renault team, he was destroyed and never raced in F1 again. Felipe Massa almost won a world championship one year before before he started racing against Alonso, he was considered one of the very best divers in the world. The rest is history.

Hulkenberg would possibly ruin his career by going to Ferrari for one year. He’ll come out at the end of 2013 having been out-raced and mentally destroyed by Alonso with no seats available in any top or midfield teams an be forced to drive in a bottom team until they ditch him for a pay driver.

Didn’t Rosberg get the fastest lap in his first ever race?

I don’t think Kovalainen will go to Sauber, he is quite overrated and not the sort of driver Sauber usually hires. With Perez gone, I think they need to get Gutierez to maintain Telmex sponsorship and the second driver will either be Kobayashi or Alguersuari.
The other big seat will be the second Caterham seat. That will either be Pic; who will be replaced by Chilton, Rossi because of the two American races next year, Alguersuari, Senna, Petrov or Kobayashi.
It looks as though Bianchi and Frijins will be the unlucky ones who miss out.
