frood19 commented on the post, Bottas tops another close practice session at Imola as car fault stops Verstappen 15 hours, 41 minutes ago
@stefmeister I couldn’t agree more. I think 16/17 races is the perfect amount because it allows variety in the calendar and stops the feeling of overkill that we get now. A shorter championship is also more likely […]
frood19 commented on the post, Revealed: Radical changes on the drawing board for F1's next rules revolution in 2025 1 week, 2 days ago
@mr-neese I’d like to see that but it could be unsafe. Still, the only way to find out is to find out. This is why non-championship races are needed – we’d be able to experiment without affecting the title race. […]

frood19 started the topic I've gone ad free but I'm still getting ads in the forum RaceFans site development 2 weeks ago
I’m not sure if anyone else is getting this strange behaviour on the site lately, but it’s become really irritating in the last couple of days. I have long been a paying member (several years) and I am keen to support the site, as well as despising intrusive adverts on websites.
I am definitely logged in but I keep seeing one popup video ad that…[Read more]
frood19 commented on the post, Vettel feeling "not at home in the car yet" after tough weekend 2 weeks, 1 day ago
I presume this is sarcastic. You can’t luck in to 4 titles. It’s a serious indictment of the sport to suggest you can luck in to a title at all. Vettel was the class of the field in 2011, 2013 and for large parts […]
frood19 commented on the post, Removal of turn nine chicane to cut F1 lap times by five seconds at Albert Park 2 weeks, 1 day ago
I am very disappointed by these proposals. Firstly, did we really need to change Albert park? It tends to provide exciting racing already, it looks cool and different, and it presents an unusual challenge for car […]
frood19 commented on the post, Turn four kerb changes could solve track limits problem, says Bahrain track boss 2 weeks, 3 days ago
@bascb I think they could have some gravel, even with the long loop i.e. either side of the track. Besides, Bahrain is not short of cash so I think they absolutely could cut the tarmac away for the grand prix and […]
frood19 commented on the post, Track limits policy did not change during race despite Hamilton's warning, says Masi 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Exactly, it doesn’t need to be acres of gravel. Just something on the outside of the turn that makes it naturally slower than staying on track.
frood19 commented on the post, Rate the race: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix 2 weeks, 5 days ago
These ratings are a little bit of a farce. It was a decent enough race but hardly a classic. The result was in doubt until the very end, which was great, but there was very little actual racing. The hated DRS was […]
frood19 commented on the post, Track limits policy did not change during race despite Hamilton's warning, says Masi 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Just put a gravel trap there. They’ve clearly got enough money to make it a temporary one just for the GPs i.e. they could remove it for the bikes or trackball days.
frood19 commented on the post, Rear floor changes "proved trickier than we expected" – Budkowski 3 weeks, 2 days ago
@jeff1s I think I would disagree with you on that. Hill is a world champion, surely a worthwhile perspective to listen to, and brundle drove 158 GPs and is pretty much the voice of the sport. You may be right that […]

How so? Records are there to be broken.
frood19 commented on the post, $200 million fee for new F1 teams is "absolutely fundamentally wrong" – Jordan 3 weeks, 2 days ago
Basically, would we rather have cheap and cheerful f1, or no f1 at all?
frood19 commented on the post, $200 million fee for new F1 teams is "absolutely fundamentally wrong" – Jordan 3 weeks, 2 days ago
That in itself is a huge problem with the sport. It’s not inconceivable that there will be another exodus of manufacturers so the fact there is no route into the sport for decent privateers is an existential […]
frood19 commented on the post, 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix TV Times 3 weeks, 4 days ago
This has been said ad nauseum but it bears repeating – the lack of live free to air coverage is an absolute travesty. The idea that this sport should not be one of the protected events is just ludicrous when the […]
frood19 commented on the post, Analysis: Jeddah's surprising track layout swerves F1's usual formula for overtaking 3 weeks, 6 days ago
@eurobrun agreed, I’m most disappointed by the length (aside from the host nation). It seems to be a huge error with a number of new circuits. A shorter lap is so much better – more action, closer qualifying, […]
frood19 commented on the post, F1 making 'positive adjustments' to 'WeRaceAsOne' diversity campaign – Hamilton 1 month ago
I think this just shows a recency bias to your perception of racism in the world. The 90s were a terrible time for racism in America (eg. Rodney king) and the UK (eg. Stephen lawrence) to say nothing of backwards […]
frood19 commented on the post, Revealed: Three safety changes coming to F1 cars following Grosjean's fireball crash 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Definitely there was a tremendous amount of luck involved in grosjean surviving. But such improbable events are an important source of knowledge and learning to help improve things in the future. That doesn’t mean […]
frood19 commented on the post, DS is second manufacturer to commit to Formula E's third-generation era 2 months ago
@peartree doesn’t that effectively mean they are over stretched? Part of the problem in the UK is that covid patients occupy so much of the ICU that they have to close to other patients. Same with non-critical […]
frood19 commented on the post, Talks over Hamilton's next Mercedes deal to begin "much earlier" in season 2 months ago
COTD speaks to me – it may be anecdotal but it’s an experience shared by me. 16 races has always felt like the right balance between enough races to allow variety on the calendar and a concise enough season to […]
