Can you explain how the impact of a car falling into an abyss to be returned hours later is different from a real life engine failure?

If they did then that would completely defeat the purpose of a budget cap!
Coming down from the 700m budgets of a couple of years ago to the budget cap level + fines would still be a massive saving.

1976 British Grand prix where Hunt was allowed to re-join the race following the red flag after initially not being allowed to? He then went on to win the race.
Questionable decision to begin with but if that […]

They even have roll-offs for the cameras on the cars, so it’s not like it’s even a new solution to the sport.
gDog commented on the post, Title rivals bring Belgian GP updates while McLaren make most changes to car 5 months ago
Teams that have been bending the rules (pun intended) are not likely to highlight that they are changing their design because they’ve been found out, especially if they’ve previously denied it. Even if they’re not […]
gDog commented on the post, How Russell took advantage of a Virtual Safety Car glitch to pass Perez 6 months ago
A constant speed limit wouldn’t be fair unless it was engaged for exactly a whole lap (or multiple).
A car in a fast sector would lose way more time than a car in a slow sector.
gDog commented on the post, Could F1's budget cap impasse tip the balance in the title fight? 7 months, 3 weeks ago
Controversial suggestion…
Deduct constructor’s and driver’s championship points corresponding to the breach.
5% over budget? Deduct 5% of their points.
50% over budget? Deduct 50% of their […]
gDog commented on the post, Aston Martin's porpoising "does not allow us to exploit the progress the guys have made" 9 months, 1 week ago
MB are probably using stiffer springs which have a higher frequency in order to reduce and/or increase the speed at which porpoising occurs. This will be further compromising their setup for cornering.
gDog commented on the post, Unexpected podium down to team's hard work, not luck – Hamilton 10 months, 1 week ago
If the issue was the fuel pump overheating and the Red Bull design puts the fuel pump in a location that makes it susceptible to that but the Mercedes design keeps it cooler then that’s not luck, that’s the design […]

Wow those side pods are ugly!
gDog commented on the post, First pictures: Aston Martin reveals its new F1 car for 2022 11 months, 3 weeks ago
The airflow over/around the sidepods is less critical with the majority of the downforce coming from underfloor so maybe that means cooling can take priority on top of the side pods instead of clean flow to the wing?

@drmouse In general I’m in complete agreement with everything you say. But… street lights are not a complete solution, there simply aren’t enough of them. For example, my road, a fairly typical suburban road is […]

Or are facilities excluded from cost cap? Not sure.

The best thing about the new tyres is that the only “benefit” (hint: it’s not performance or road relevance) of switching to 18″ wheels is being completely lost due the wheel covers totally obscuring the fact that […]

That’s a very good point. The whole purpose of the minimum weight was to give the less lavishly funded teams, who couldn’t afford the exotic super lightweight materials, a more level playing field. With the cost […]
