Well done Ocon by the way. An incredible lap. Will we ever have these cars regulated to the point where a driver can make a difference like we sometimes see at Monaco?

I fear you are right. It will be city street tracks all over the world, lined with advertising boards. That’s when the F1 we knew will be dead.

Were RB not getting beaten by Ferrari on pace during the the start of these new regs at the beginning of last year? Let’s not pretend they gained an immediate, untouchable advantage like Merc enjoyed in 2014.

Spot on. I’m a RB fan and don’t enjoy watching this at the minute. A good yard stick to show how Merc and Ferrari have badly underperformed is the Aston Martin.

I enjoyed his reaction. He is like a slightly more outspoken version on Kimi, who I was also a fan of. I’ll take straight talking over media savvy rubbish any day.

Not sure what you were watching, or dreaming about. Here’s the analysis of George plowing his front wheel into Max’s sidepod.

Watch the first corner at the USA GP 2015, the most aggressive drivers all do it. Lewis used to try and bully Rosberg all the time but when Max came along and gave him a taste of his own medicine, everyone lost their minds.

Funny how he thinks understeering into another car and causing damage to help him get past is ‘getting a move done’.

My thoughts at the time were that RB brought Max in before Perez got withing DRS range. Max was clearly struggling on his tyres.

glenj commented on the post, Mercedes dismiss Verstappen's criticism of Russell: "He defended well" 1 month, 1 week ago
Exactly. The fact that George’s front wing/tyre punched a hole in Max’ sidepod shows he didn’t have the corner as he suggested. Max would have had to slow down considerably to back out and let him through which […]

That’s where it gets messy. Schumacher’s incident which he alone decided to do only involved two drivers. The decision Renault and Piquet Jr. took affected the whole field with the safety car. I’d say this is […]

glenj commented on the post, Red Bull dominance is a turn-off for "avid" F1 fans but not new viewers – Domenicali 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I agree. It’s a shame that the ground effect era started with RB and Ferrari within a tenth and the engines were frozen with no clear advantage like the Merc era, yet we have seen RB pull away. The blame for me […]

I know he has previous and I’m not defending the man. I’m just pointing out that every family has their issues and if it really was that bad then I’m sure Max would cut ties. It’s not like he depends on his father […]

Max hasn’t sacked his father yet, as far as I know. You don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. Every family has their stories.

glenj commented on the post, Will Red Bull unleash their one-second advantage? Six Australian GP talking points 2 months, 1 week ago
What’s really annoying about these regs is that it all started so well. RB and Ferrari were within a tenth or so of each other in both quali and race and the cars were following each other nicely. Then the Ferrari […]

I think either way they have a better chance than the other teams did from 2014. Fingers crossed they see progress with the change this year and then a redesign next year.

Would it be fair to say Mercedes would be close to them this year if they ditched their poor concept early last year and focused on a revised 2023 car?

glenj commented on the post, Why Hamilton's claim about the scale of Red Bull's dominance doesn't stack up 2 months, 2 weeks ago
They can change it though and make up the difference with smart engineering. Ask Aston Martin. If they had bitten the bullet last year and changed then we might be seeing a title fight this year. In 2014 the […]

I get that, although the engines needed a redesign to match the Merc engine. Not something they could tweak with a few tokens. We are already seeing Merc this year switch concept (which they should have really […]

I agree. That is exactly why it’s not right to compare the ‘dominance’ of this RedBull to the Merc era. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t remember any of the big teams getting their car concept completely wrong […]
