Keith, Like I said I did try but as above a previous 1 off use and long disuse caused me problems with PayPal and I do not like allowing access willy nilly to my bank accounts. I have recently purchased on ebay from ****sellers who offer a service where I pay paypal with my c card and they pay the retailer. I would prefer an annual sub by c.card and would be happy to receive a reminder, though 2020 might be year to far for me. If you come up with an annual cc option make sure to announce it loud and clear.
Regards and thanks to you and Dieter for your work.

I was surprised to see that Ch 10 were broadcasting the MalaysianGP live FTA this Sunday as they also had Singapore live FTA. Ch 10 are of course in administration and about to be taken over by CBS so live FTA will become a thing of the past. Bye, bye F1, we had some good times and some not so good times, I hope we can still be friends.

Not exactly relevant to this but I have been wondering how Eric Bouillier manages to find time for his job, he seems to spend most of every day talking to the press, at least that’s the impression I get from the roundup every day.

Keep it, the driver of the day award will probably be awarded on the basis of social media and that means a teenybopper popularity contest not a driving-effort contest.

Great article about the Lotus43-BRM H16, I error in it though @keithcollantine, it was not 2 V8s sandwiched together but 2 horizontally opposed 8s, the flat 8 BRM was highly successful iirc considered the most powerful and highest revving engine of its era.

Well I guess that leaves my candidate, the BRM H16 looking pretty good by comparison, but I have no idea of the statistics and I think it managed to finish a few races. I’m sure someone out there has the complete history of BRM at their fingertips.

Nothing is more expensive in F1 than a major rule change, even one intended to reduce costs.

NO,no,no,look at the facts, if you want real battles and real passing you must have DURABLE TYRES that can take some abuse and have a wide operating temperature range.

@atticus, the abrasive runoff would be great for F1 but the motorcyclists probably would not agree.

@strontium, accidents ? not so sure, but cars beached in sandtraps I could support, last night I watched the Moto GP from Barcelona (SPOILER ALERT) there were several riders caught out by high track temperature and the main feature was the 2 top of the championship riders out front with 1 pushing to catch the leader and the leader pushing to maintain the gap, boring you say, not a bit, 1 little mistake from either was likely to end their race and with it their chance of the championship would slip away too. Whereas usually in F1 a little mistake merely costs a few 10ths of a second.

Besides the obvious need for the cars to be able to race close together, ie fix the tyres and aero, it must be, to a very large extent, the cost of viewing, I reached this conclusion yesterday when I was looking to see if there was any Le Mans coverage on TV and stumbled into Formula E, imagine my surprise to see in Germany full grandstands of people watching much slower, virtually silent cars in a Trulli-train, literally not metaphorically, Jarno Trulli in second place a half second slower than the leader was leading a single file train of 8-10 cars. Apparently this coverage is available every week and as I said the grandstands were full, but F1 with empty grandstands is only available live on the same channel every second race.
