It’s pathetic to even write an article about this. Have these people really got nothing better to do than look where the champagne is going? They are winners and celebrate how they see fit. Don’t stand on the podium if you don’t want to be involved in celebrations.
All I hear is comparisons to what we used to have. Time moves on and things change. You’re not going to get the high you used to have when manufacturers ended up having similarly performant cars. This is sport after all and fairness needs to stay even if it eats into entertainment factor. Amount of complainers on this subject feels to have increased lately but I’m wondering if its just nostalgia and nothing more…
This is nothing more than nostalgia. For example I As F1 fan much prefer sitting at home watching a race with lots of data to follow rather than blowing air horn at a grandstand.
There are numerous other reasons why people don’t do what they used to do before. It doesn’t mean it’s worse, just different.Has to be 2008 Brazil for me too. In fact 2008 was the first F1 year for me. I guess that race got me addicted to F1 so much.
1. Hamilton – Most of the time looked unstoppable in the lead. Showed he has an edge in race craft and race pace over Nico. Made no stupid mistakes as in earlier seasons. Was beat in qualifying however I’m not convinced he sets up his car for quali.
2. Alonso – same old story with Alonso, seems to deliver regardless of car deficit even though his quali pace is still lacking.
3. Ricciardo – I’m probably offending most of you by placing Ricciardo so far down the list but I simply refuse to believe he’s THAT much better than Vettel. I think Redbull have the 2nd fastest car this season, and therefore I’d expect Ricciardo to deliver exactly the results he got. Whatever Vettel’s problems are, it seems wrong to just explain results gap by Ricciardo’s excellence. Having said that he was very good in races and quali. Never made mistakes and showed good pace throughout the season.

F1 is a sport of speed and weight proportionally counteracts speed.1. Let the teams design cars as fast as they can make them. Too much effort was spent making racing appealing to general public instead of concentrating on ensuring F1 is still a pinnacle of motor sport which it is losing slowly.
Safety keeps getting better and yet cars get slower.
2. Driver is part of the team, if team tries to save weight with car why shouldn’t driver contribute to overall package.
3. Driver is an athlete of sort and just as in any other sport you need to push your body to get result. You don’t see fat runners or short basketball players. Some body types are just not suited to certain sports and so in F1 you need to be small to go quicker. If you’re not then you don’t belong in F1.
