jodrell commented on the post, Whatever triggered it, Verstappen's defiance of his own team makes little sense 4 months ago
Of course it makes sense. Max is a brilliant driver, but it also an immature self-entitled man-baby and the Red Bull team have fostered that attitude by playing the hard done-by put-upon rebels leaving him to […]
jodrell commented on the post, Is there a 'sprint' format which can satisfy both the purists and the bean-counters? 4 months, 1 week ago
I think a separate championship would be ignored by the tiger teams because it’s basically irrelevant when compared with the full drivers and teams championships, and a split qualifying would just end up as […]

Apologetic weapons grade nonsense…

They’re the police of their own domains. Actions are needed as an example
jodrell commented on the post, 'This has no place in our sport': Hamilton condemns Piquet's racist comment 8 months, 3 weeks ago
All condemnation and no action…the F1 and the FIA should immediately ban him from all forms of motorsport organised by them for the foreseeable future. Set a proper example.
jodrell commented on the post, F1 sees "no pressing need" to add 11th team as Andretti bids to join grid 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Interesting…I’d always thought F1 was trying to get back to 12 teams and a 24 car grid, although with the traffic jams that appear in Q1 at some venues, that might present some difficulties on track, let along […]
jodrell commented on the post, F1's sprint race rules change won't end pole position confusion 1 year, 1 month ago
The Sprint isn’t inherently bad from the point of view that F1, and probably all the spectators, want to see more of the cars on the track in competitive situations for more of the weekend. The issue is it […]
jodrell commented on the post, Does F1 need a new race director – or deeper change – after Abu Dhabi restart row? 1 year, 2 months ago
but I think it’s the crux of the issue. The race director made a decision to reinterpret the rules in a way that unequally affected all drivers. He did this only because the cars in position 1 & 2 were fighting […]
jodrell commented on the post, Does F1 need a new race director – or deeper change – after Abu Dhabi restart row? 1 year, 2 months ago
I’d be gobsmacked if Brawn or Domenicali had been on the line somewhere shouting at him to “get the race going again”, but there could certainly have been prior discussions about that situation occurring. I don’t […]
jodrell commented on the post, Does F1 need a new race director – or deeper change – after Abu Dhabi restart row? 1 year, 2 months ago
Quite, so take the guess work out of it. Here it’s a red, here it’s a safety or virtual safety car. It shouldn’t be random
jodrell commented on the post, Does F1 need a new race director – or deeper change – after Abu Dhabi restart row? 1 year, 2 months ago
Agreed…presumably pre race you’d have a track map of where the cranes/gaps etc are and mark out areas where a car is difficult to recover. If someone stops there, instant Red flag…
jodrell commented on the post, Does F1 need a new race director – or deeper change – after Abu Dhabi restart row? 1 year, 2 months ago
I’ve discussed before I think the safety car procedure could be improved in a way that could have prevented this mess, particularly around unlapping cars (have them all peel off in order into the pits and rejoin […]
jodrell commented on the post, Mercedes decline to participate in FIA champions photoshoot as appeal wait goes on 1 year, 3 months ago
This is really not a good look for Mercedes…
As an impartial McLaren fan it’s been great to watch the Merc/Red Bull battle this year, but Red Bull have really doubled down on the conspiracy theories, they’re […]
jodrell commented on the post, Mandatory rookie tests on Fridays "maybe something we should entertain" 1 year, 6 months ago
But the point of the cost cap is in part to reduce the barrier to entry. You don’t want to increase that with third cars
jodrell commented on the post, Mandatory rookie tests on Fridays "maybe something we should entertain" 1 year, 6 months ago
I think that can be figured out. I don’t think it’d be unreasonable to give drivers who’ve not raced an F1 car for a couple of years the ability to drive in an FP session. Maybe Rosberg could come back for a […]
jodrell commented on the post, Mandatory rookie tests on Fridays "maybe something we should entertain" 1 year, 6 months ago
This is a good point…I’m not sure if most people come to see individuals or just stupidly quick cars to be astonished at the speed and change of direction etc etc. Some finessing of my idea above may be needed, […]
jodrell commented on the post, Mandatory rookie tests on Fridays "maybe something we should entertain" 1 year, 6 months ago
I can’t see the third car happening now, especially with the cost cap. Imagine the number of extra parts needed to be produced, extra shipping of tyres etc…it would add so much
jodrell commented on the post, Mandatory rookie tests on Fridays "maybe something we should entertain" 1 year, 6 months ago
Then make sure you pick a decent “rookie” driver and give them a test plan to follow that doesn’t push them too far. I think it adds yet another tactical element to the team and the race weekend
jodrell commented on the post, Mandatory rookie tests on Fridays "maybe something we should entertain" 1 year, 6 months ago
I’ve been banging this drum for a while…or at least a very similar one.
In round numbers…20 races = 60 Free Practice sessions.
Introduce a rule that no driver may take part in more than 50 Free Practice […]
