Well, a moving car is a moveable aerodynamic device…

I had the opportunity to walk round the track 2 weeks ago, and they have a lot to finish! And that’s assuming the 4ft of snow at the side of the track melts too…
The pit buildings still need an exterior, a […]

As was considered after the flag blunder in Canada, we’ve also broken the streak of winners of a race with a premature flag-wave going on to win the championship that year.

And, @flatsix, for the first 3 occurrences the driver that won the prematurely waved race went on to win the championship that year. Wonder if that trend will continue?

The solution to the unfairness* of DRS is simple. Give each driver a fixed number of uses. No 1 second rule. You can keep the specified zones for safety reasons.
The clever bit is working out how many uses you […]

Regarding Gasly, are we sure the fire extinguisher had nothing to do with his performance? What’s the weight of the extinguisher material? 1-2kg? That can make enough of a difference. Exclusion was the only […]
I quite like that overall layout, but without the Tiroch chicane of course. Keeping turn 2 as a tight corner is important, because the gentle sweeps running up to it allow for a variety of lines for slipstreaming […]
JohnH commented on the post, New Monza over a second faster for F1 – and Parabolica gravel will return 5 years, 3 months ago
I like the new section they added to Silverstone. They replaced the rubbish Abbey chicane with a faster turn, which then leads into the flat out Farm curve and then an actual overtaking spot. I do miss Bridge […]
And of course, in 2014 in GP3, she never finished higher than 17th. Dean Stoneman replaced her for the last 4 races and got two wins and a second place… Not just in a spec series, but in the same actual car.

1991 too, I think (Williams, Benetton, and McLaren).

Any equalisation process should only involve opening up the rules to allow more engine development, rather than restricting what power Mercedes have. Just imagine what Williams, Lotus, and Force India would say if […]
I wanted to vote for Maldonado, because he dragged that Lotus to dizzying heights. However, he incurred 2 safety related penalties. Speeding under the safety car and in the pit lane are serious offences, and shows […]
I just got home from the practice day at Silverstone, having gone there wondering whether all the fuss about noise was real. To me, the sound on the TV is pretty good, when the volume is turned up.
When the […]
Even if they did think or have evidence that Nico played foul, it wouldn’t be in the team’s interest to stitch up Nico. He would have been sent to the back of the grid, which would have likely resulted in fewer […]
