Given Hamilton out qualified Bottas but had to start from 11th place due to an engine change, and the two had very different race strategies as a consequence, I struggle to understand how Bottas was “showing […]
kartguy07 commented on the post, We should have pitted earlier or not at all – Hamilton 6 days, 16 hours ago
Erm, Gasly did pit, and without the farcical 5 second penalty he received, he would almost certainly have beaten Hamilton, although Mercedes may have taken different choices.
@dmw Yes, and Liberty are doing a lot to turn F1 into a franchise sport with tribal loyalty, because they see that as a guarantor of (even more) money. It’s not likely to improve the sport for the reason you give.
Indeed, but Vettel knows that and does a lot to encourage it – the petulant switching of position numbers being a fine example, although he may well have learnt it from the Red Bull management, of course.
kartguy07 commented on the post, Why the 'Leclerc precedent' didn't spare Ocon a penalty for Vettel clash 1 month ago
I didn’t understand at the time why Leclerc didn’t get a penalty, but am glad to read that it was effectively agreed that he should have done and that it would be penalised in future.
kartguy07 commented on the post, How can Hamilton break through the wall of papaya to hunt down Verstappen? 1 month ago
Well, if Horner is right, then they need to sort out the derating. I wonder if Bottas had the same issue, but it didn’t matter because he didn’t have to overtake anyone? I also wonder if you are allowed to change […]
kartguy07 commented on the post, "Two-millimetre" error with clutch caused Hamilton's poor start 1 month ago
On the other hand if 2mm is 2%, that’s a 10cm total travel on the clutch, which seems quite a lot for a hand clutch, especially if such a small amount makes all the difference. Or maybe I’m […]
That should have been “or screwing their fans”, of course. Autocorrect strikes again.
When at Ferrari, Domenicali was quite likeable, if possibly a little out of his depth once promoted. Now he’s all corporate and cynical. Those two laps have put the circuit in an impossible position of being […]
kartguy07 commented on the post, Vettel: F1 "got lucky" with huge Q3 crash for Norris 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I assumed he was calling for a red flag because he was in second after Q2 and knew he wasn’t likely to stay there. I still think that’s the case.
In other news, there was some formula one racing on today.
kartguy07 commented on the post, Decision to leave Hamilton on intermediates was "100% correct" – Wolff 2 months, 2 weeks ago
On top of that I don’t get how Ocon can describe in the press conference how he was discussing with the team in the radio whether to come in.
kartguy07 commented on the post, Red Bull reveal hydraulic problem almost cost Perez victory 4 months, 1 week ago
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner revealed the team had been concerned about falling tyre pressure on Verstappen’s car.
“He was nursing a hydraulic issue,” said Horner. “We were really […]

That namaste strategy shows the Indian variant is spreading quickly.
Yes, and it is quite tiresome, even if I am no fan of Mazepin either.
It almost seems old-fashioned, but I’d really like to see some F1 races again.
I generally don’t read Keith’s comment pieces these days, but I clicked through from Twitter thinking it was a news piece. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and I don’t see this as anything to do with F1, […]
kartguy07 commented on the post, F1 drivers given new instructions for practice starts after Hamilton penalty 1 year ago
My thoughts exactly. If Masi was so convinced that his notes in Sochi were so clear, then he’d be confident enough to state things in the same way for Nürburgring. But we all know they were ambiguous and that […]
