Krommenaas commented on the post, 10 years of DRS: Should F1 wean itself off push-button passes? 1 week, 1 day ago
Useless poll. Everyone wants DRS gone, the question should be whether we want to get rid of it immediately, or wait until the cars and/or circuits have been ‘fixed’ so cars can pass each other without this […]

Um, Vandoorne was an average 0.25s behind Alonso, in his rookie season. Alpine will be glad if Ocon can stay that close in his 4th season.

I think he’s already dragging his car to places it doesn’t belong. Don’t expect much more. The man’s a beast though.
Krommenaas commented on the post, Ferrari: "The engine has made a large step forward" 2 weeks, 5 days ago
“The engine is better, there is no doubt. We know that the engine has made a large step forward. Is it enough? It depends how much the other guys progress in the meantime. We have no way to estimate that”
If […]
Krommenaas commented on the post, F1 reveals "fastest ever street track" for Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 3 weeks, 3 days ago
I don’t recall there being any F1 races during the age of conquest. If you want to avoid places with a horrible past, you probably couldn’t go anywhere anymore. You could just avoid regimes that are abusing human […]
Krommenaas commented on the post, F1 weighing "pros and cons" of awarding points for sprint races 1 month ago
If they don’t award any points, then the sprint race will effectively be the first part of the actual race. If you pass two cars in the sprint race, that’s two less cars you have to pass in the actual race. So […]

They’ll probably sell (part of) the operation to a car manufacturer at the first occasion though. Much like Ilmor became Mercedes.

Hear hear. If only a favored few can participate, then it’s not a sport but just a show. A sport is open to anyone who can compete.
Krommenaas commented on the post, Why hasn't Hamilton signed a new Mercedes deal yet? There's a few million reasons 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Technical reliability is part of what makes the Mercedes car better than the Red Bull. It’s not like the Red Bull would have had less technical failures if Lewis had taken a sabbatical. As for non-technical bad […]
Krommenaas commented on the post, Why hasn't Hamilton signed a new Mercedes deal yet? There's a few million reasons 2 months, 3 weeks ago
McLaren wasn’t in the midfield then, they were backmarkers. But suppose in 2022 Mercedes have a car that’s a bit worse than Red Bull’s. Then Hamilton might make a difference and still put them in contention for […]
Krommenaas commented on the post, Why hasn't Hamilton signed a new Mercedes deal yet? There's a few million reasons 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Mercedes have to weigh Hamilton’s marketing value against his cost. If Hamilton’s marketing value is 40 million, but Russell is 50 million cheaper, then Russell could be the sensible choice.
Krommenaas commented on the post, Why hasn't Hamilton signed a new Mercedes deal yet? There's a few million reasons 2 months, 3 weeks ago
I would rather think the opposite. Right now it doesn’t matter who’s in the Mercedes; any good driver would become WDC in it. Even if Mercedes would sign a subpar driver, Bottas would probably take the WDC. But if […]

Krommenaas commented on the post, Norris gained nine places at start after watching 'every onboard' from last race 4 months ago
Sounds cute, but what can an eliminated driver really do during a race? Would they consult him on pit stop strategy? Would he wield the lollipop? More likely he’d just be a distraction to the team which is now […]

I can’t imagine a more gentle, low-pressure entry into F1 than as a teammate to a pay driver in a backmarker team.
Krommenaas commented on the post, Grosjean crash response was "a credit to all involved" says Masi as FIA begins investigation 4 months, 1 week ago
I don’t understand the praise being heaped on the medical car duo, as Grosjean 100% saved himself. All anyone else did was grab his arm after he’d already loosened his belts, stood up, got out of the car, put a […]

I had the exact same thoughts. Also, when he started extinguishing fire, he started at the outer rim of the fire, while Grosjean was still being roasted in the middle of it. I would aim the foam or what is it […]

Hamilton only has to race one other car. He got overtaken by it, then took back his position, end of story. Maybe he drove brilliantly, I don’t know, it’s hard to give a masterclass in a two-race car. He beat […]
