Not sure why Albon got only a 3 – he was faster than his teammate, but suffered that damage and that probably meant he did a 4 stopper. Schumacher also a bit of a question mark for me, since he did a solid job in […]
BasCB commented on the post, Red Bull "wouldn't write off Mercedes" in title fight 1 hour, 9 minutes ago
It would be dependent on Mercedes now being able to quickly improve another 3 tenths to half a second to be able to get on the pace of the top 2 teams though @macleod. Not sure I see that happening earlier than in […]
BasCB commented on the post, Red Bull "wouldn't write off Mercedes" in title fight 1 hour, 12 minutes ago
The article mentions “documents” @bernasaurus, so I presume it’s exactly stuff like his passport/ID card and drivers licences that would have been in the bag.

Wow. At least the track action was good in this weekend full of setbacks then Claire!
BasCB commented on the post, Magnussen says Hamilton collision comment was made "in the heat of the moment" 20 hours, 6 minutes ago
Glad to read Magnussen has changed his views on what happened after watching it from the outside. Yes, in the heat of the moment people say stuff, partly defensive talk to hope the stewards look into it too, but […]
BasCB commented on the post, Verstappen's DRS fault shows weight reduction may have been "too ambitious" 20 hours, 22 minutes ago
I think what happened with the closing early there might well be due to the default safety thinking with DRS – if it fails it is build so as to close automatically @bernasaurus, @keithedin, @petebaldwin.
But I […]

Isn’t it the nature of in race penalties that there is only limited time to take them and that they cannot be overturned after the race though anon?

Good point about Bottas @geemac, to me Bottas and Russel were the most standout drives. Both having great qualifying and showing what was in their cars in the race. Bottas strategy proved not to have been the […]
BasCB commented on the post, Vote for your 2022 Spanish Grand Prix Driver of the Weekend 1 day ago
You’re probably joking there, right @j4k3? Russel beat Hamilton in qualifying, and his defensive drive was one of the highlights of this race.
Sure, it will probably have cost him time (while Hamilton at the […]
BasCB commented on the post, Russell says Mercedes 'could have been third' on grid with updated car 2 days, 14 hours ago
Also, we’ve seen the Mercedes cars this year tend to be relatively better in qualifying compared to some others when the weather is hot, since it helps them actually get heat in the tyres, so it remains to be seen […]
BasCB commented on the post, Vettel hoped for Q3 shot before double Q1 exit for Aston Martin 2 days, 14 hours ago
I guess AM will have some work to do to get on top of the right setup for their car. It does look like it drives a lot better. But others have also improved – just look at how close the grid still is.

They were also used on parts of Zandvoort with the new layout @proesterchen. So yeah, it’s clear that F1 uses them where they make sense / are needed.
So why not here, right.
BasCB commented on the post, Aston Martin reveal major upgrade to car for Spanish Grand Prix 4 days, 12 hours ago
I do think it might be less refined, since first of all they had less time to think this up at AM, but also, they had to (largely) work with the internals they already had, which clearly limits exactly what you can do.

At least they didn’t replace a great track with Paul Ricard @queki, I doubt it will be any worse than the Sochi races (at least no jumping the first or second corner stuff here).

BasCB commented on the post, Why TecPro barriers weren't used at Miami chicane where Sainz and Ocon crashed 5 days, 19 hours ago
Yeah, I think that certainly should be looked at as an option @proesterchen – this is pretty much exactly what a SAFER barrier was made for, right. It also takes less room (which was also mentioned as a reason for […]
BasCB commented on the post, FIA seeking third race director for F1, "might use" Masi in a role 5 days, 20 hours ago
Yeah, he might even be part of the team in that review office that will be backing the race directors or something @red-andy. To me it is also pretty clear MBS is not thinking of putting him back into the role. […]
BasCB commented on the post, FIA seeking third race director for F1, "might use" Masi in a role 5 days, 20 hours ago
I think it’s simply that calling the VSC is immediate @3dom – The incident happens, the race director gets an echo, the race director presses a button and the systems engage, showing drivers to slow down […]

For Charles it might have been better if they ditched the Monaco race @macleod!
