No kidding, this is the race that got me into F1 back in the mid 2000s.
I specifically remember watching the cars going through Eau Rouge and thinking it was impossible to go that quickly through there.
I’m no doctor but I would think that the problem comes from the frequency of the oscillations, so while the drivers experience higher g-forces while braking, during bouncing the brain itself can resonate at a […]

Yeah, that video of mounting an engine on to the Toro Rosso is kinda pointless, just for show.
I don’t think it’s that easy to swap engines between different cars, they all had slight variations custom for […]

No, it’s always been a separate metal part, otherwise it would need to be carbon fiber…. perhaps making a piece this intricate (with air intake, cooling channels and so on) out of carbon would be either too […]

Perhaps they could look into changing to other type of gravel, or lay it in different ways to slow the car more as it approaches the barrier.
Similar to that high friction paint concept used in Paul Ricard but […]

@dmw I don’t know about F1, but definitely a few years ago in one of the lower formulas, the father of one of the drivers poured water into his son’s racing suit while he was hugging the mechanics.
Yeah, when the roll hoop failed I immediately thought of the Diniz incident.
What a coincidence that Saubers keep flipping over, like Gutiérrez in Bahrain a few years ago… I’m guessing that one didn’t fail […]
Yep, you can see those red flags all over the place. Once Max decides he doesn’t need him anymore who knows what he’s gonna do.
Also I don’t know much about her, but Max’s mom is surely an important part of […]
Wait, did they really try to glue themselves to the floor?
Next time they should give the marshals a bottle of acetone just in case… crazy!
mantresx commented on the post, Red Bull drop Vips from Junior Team over use of racial slur 1 month, 2 weeks ago
So Red Bull has just set a precedent to all its employees, but how sustainable is it long term?
How long until one of their main drivers or top figures in the team is filmed saying something stupid while drunk, […]

Yeah everyone can express freely, but unless we know who they are exactly, you can’t seriously suggest anonymous opinions are as equally valuable as Vettel’s.
Yes it could be an anonymous expert on the subject […]
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that his biggest threat is his dad…
Don’t know how or when (maybe in some other year), but I get the feeling he’s going to interfere at some point and it will end in tears for both.
mantresx commented on the post, F1 test driver Vips suspended as team investigates racial slur video 1 month, 3 weeks ago
My memory is fuzzy but didn’t Red Bull keep Ticktum for a while after he was banned for a year??
If that’s the case then any kind of punishment on Vips would be seen as hypocritical by them.
I mean, that’s what politicians do, always take it to a personal level so we shouldn’t be surprised.
Either way, I think it back fired for them because now it’s got more attention than if they had left Vettel […]
So what are their options now?
Go to a local machine shop and borrow the lathe for a couple of hours to make extra stays??
This is very strange.
mantresx commented on the post, Tsunoda thought he had an engine problem when his DRS flap failed 2 months ago
Does anyone remember when was the last time in F1 an actual black and orange flag (along with the driver’s number) was displayed on the main straight?
Or is it all just done by radio nowadays.
mantresx commented on the post, Red Bull believe they can "tune out" Verstappen's latest DRS problem 2 months ago
I think DRS gives around a second of performance, but even if getting rid of it gave better lap times you still want a higher top speed to defend/attack during the race.

I remember the 2012 Spanish GP like it was yesterday, what a race! Williams garage on fire and everything.
Everyone thought after winning Pastor would be a more mature driver and have his pay driver reputation […]

I’m pretty sure Felipe Massa used a wristwatch during racing, I remember thinking it was a bit pointless carrying that extra weight but then again Massa was already very light so I guess the engineers didn’t mind much.
