moblet commented on the post, Why are Formula 2 drivers suddenly getting more penalty points – and even bans? 9 months, 2 weeks ago
@bascb I was going to comment that perhaps the drivers were modelling their driving on F1 standards but you beat me to it.

moblet commented on the post, The making of the F1 newcomer who stunned the sport by saying 'no' to Alpine 10 months ago
Business, no matter what the industry, definitely can have emotions attached to it. Like sport it can be a competition, like racing drivers there are people with ego, singular focus and commitment wanting to climb […]

moblet commented on the post, FIA: Abu Dhabi GP row 'tarnishing the image of F1 and celebration of Verstappen's title' 1 year, 5 months ago
@slightlycrusty I would argue that if the goal was to have a change of WDC this year at any cost – which seems to be a widely-held perception, not least within the paddock – then the system has worked. It hasn’t […]

moblet commented on the post, FIA: Abu Dhabi GP row 'tarnishing the image of F1 and celebration of Verstappen's title' 1 year, 5 months ago
That part of the statement is an effort to divert attention from the FIA’s actions and focus the reader on celebrating the result. A feeble and counterproductive effort to anyone reading critically, but an effort nonetheless.

moblet commented on the post, FIA: Abu Dhabi GP row 'tarnishing the image of F1 and celebration of Verstappen's title' 1 year, 5 months ago
For the longer term I’m more concerned about another thing the FIA has done to tarnish the image of both F1 and Verstappen – normalising running up the inside with no intention of making the apex and blocking your […]

I suspect the pressure from his father might exceed the pressures from the rest of the universe combined.

Yep. By now, how can VER know in advance what the boundaries really are?

moblet commented on the post, Sydney evaluating F1 street track plan to lure Australian GP away from Melbourne 1 year, 7 months ago
If history is any guide the GP will end up being held in Canberra.
(Canberra was built between Sydney and Melbourne for no other reason than to become the national capital, because neither Sydney nor Melbourne […]

moblet commented on the post, Chassis change and other tweaks solved Ocon's problems immediately 1 year, 10 months ago
@jaymenon10 It looks to me like they’re aiming to avoid refuelling. If the next generation (2025 or so) of cars can do things like tuck down their rear wings on straights they’ll use significantly less energy over […]

moblet commented on the post, Ocon "getting closer" to Ricciardo after settling in at Renault 2 years, 7 months ago
The cars themselves run on 85% ethanol but yes, the technology is increasingly archaic and irrelevant and now that the Ford/Holden rivalry is dead it’ll be interesting to see what, if any, base the series has to […]

moblet commented on the post, "Disrespectful" Vettel deserved his penalty – Rosberg 3 years, 12 months ago
That’s exactly how it looked to me from the behaviour of Vettel’s car. He had lost enough speed and had enough control of his car to avoid forcing Hamilton into the wall but instinctively tried to block to […]

“Supercar” is just the name used for the series. It was formerly called, and is equivalent to what is still known elsewhere as, a Touring Car championship.

* Correction: the current ultrasoft for colour-me-purple-soft. It’s a good thing none of this is genuinely confusing.

moblet commented on the post, No more "hyper-soft"? Pirelli asked to change tyre names for 2019 5 years ago
Seems strangely pro-active on the part of the FIA, especially when there are still plenty of unused prefixes that could be used in front of “soft”. I was hoping we’d get to see plus-softs, doubleplus-softs, […]

It’s Ricciardo’s new ride sharing service. He got the inspiration from the 1998 French film Taxi.
