Isn’t Piastri’s lack of a promotion more to do with the fact that F1 (the sport and the organisation) would rather that his place went to Zhou for marketing reasons?
OllieJ commented on the post, How will Formula 1 decide if 'Sprint' races are a success? Ross Brawn explains 4 months ago
I am in favour of sprint races but please can the polesitter for historical/records purposes be classed as the driver who is first in Friday Qualifying not Saturday Sprint Qualifying.
Or ideally, the driver who […]
Good work flagging the potential conflict of interests. I’m sure this will make uncomfortable reading for many in F1.
In Portugal I hope a journalist or one of the Sky presenters publicly challenges Wolff over his whining about Russell daring to try and overtake the works cars.
Mercedes are only supposed to have two drivers in […]
I like the idea of categorizing the teams as ‘entrants’ as referred to in the fourth paragraph.
I think F1 should start publishing statistics etc referring to entrants’ full history, e.g. the ‘Enstone entrant’ […]

Yes! Great to have features on what is still my favourite team

Can’t believe Gene didn’t get a mention for his performance in the Minardi. One of the drives of the season, and covered as such in the press at the time (or at least in Autosport and F1 Rejects which I read).

Gotta laugh at the fact that he’s sponsored by Police (eyewear)

Probably best you steer clear of Series 2 as well then mate…

I always liked Takagi, so I definitely noticed as well when he lost his seat :P
Interesting that commentators always seem to narrow the greatest drivers down to seven, in various combinations.
It may be a futile endeavour, but I think every enjoys the debate about who the greatest of all […]

Really enjoyed this series! Hope a few of the drivers can have decent careers off the back of it. Maybe not Formula 1, but surely first female Le Mans winner is a pretty realistic target?
OllieJ commented on the post, Should Monaco be the same length as every other F1 race? 2 years, 5 months ago
100% agree with this! Though I think it should be 2hours plus one lap (or more realistically 100mins)
OllieJ commented on the post, How Sauber joined the ranks of Formula 1's former teams 2 years, 8 months ago
Another insightful article, thanks.
It always seems silly that changing a teams owner and name legally makes a new team, when the factory and personnel usually remain the same. Minardi was my favourite team and […]
Thanks for the COTD Keith!
@coldfly I agree with you wholeheartedly.
When people talk about manufacturers being important in the past they seem to confuse ‘manufacturers who own teams’ and ‘manufacturers who […]
OllieJ commented on the post, Toyota, the collapse of CART and a vital lesson for Formula 1 2 years, 11 months ago
@bascb They could use spec engines like in F2, F3 etc. Obviously this would have costs, and the conservative fans would be up in arms, but if a manufacturer left and the alternative was Formula 1 collapsing […]
