P J Squeak commented on the post, Singapore a struggle even if we'd got everything right – Mercedes 6 years, 10 months ago
What, like having enough air in the tyres?
If my memory serves me correctly they had a little problem with that in the race before Singapore. Causation != Correlation, but what else has changed?
P J Squeak commented on the post, McLaren wants to convince Button to stay 6 years, 10 months ago
If his heart is not in it then no amount of money will change that. Even having the fastest and most competitive car might not change that. There is no more money and there is no fastest car – this we know – but […]

Currently Rosberg is on 0%, i.e. no votes. Even both Manor drivers are higher, even though they only raced one car.

The safety car has to be safe and dependable and an electric drive train in guaranteed, tested and dependable form is some way off in their performance cars. Hybrid isn’t yet a safety feature.
P J Squeak commented on the post, Red Bull rebuilding as dream team dissolves 7 years, 5 months ago
From what I understand part of the Red Bull ‘recipe’ was the way Vettel was able to throw the car into corners and get on the power earlier than anyone else (including Webber). But then the rear diffuser changed, […]

At a guess we can expect the ‘Ovo’ logo to be prominent on the car. It would be funny if Sainsbury’s came on board with ‘Live Well For Less’ being on the car somewhere. That would sum things up really.
P J Squeak commented on the post, First pictures: Sauber C34 revealed 7 years, 6 months ago
At least with the ‘Club Sauber’ and the Chelsea cross-branding they were trying something. But what became of that? Nothing!
This new car is a very expensive and fast moving advertising hoarding for a bank. That […]P J Squeak commented on the post, First pictures and video: Ferrari SF-15T revealed 7 years, 6 months ago
That is actually a good idea. It could also be a different engine, a customer engine aimed at whomever the next ‘Marussia’ is, with a starter pack of sponsor logos.
Speaking of logos, there is still the […]

P J Squeak commented on the post, Hamilton & Mercedes celebrate titles at Stars & Cars 7 years, 8 months ago
Don’t these Germans have their own language? ‘Food’, ‘Drink’, ‘Stars and Cars’ – those appear to be more than loan words. Even the finance arm – ‘CharterWay’ – is a little bit English sounding if you ask me. This […]
P J Squeak commented on the post, Hamilton tipped for new five-year Mercedes contract 7 years, 8 months ago
Lewis Hamilton is much like Marmite in that some people apparently dislike him whilst plenty of others really think he is wonderful. Today I met a retired Irish lady who’s dog was called Schumi (after you know […]
P J Squeak commented on the post, F1's hated double points finale likely to be a one-off 7 years, 9 months ago
Double points for the season opener, the last race in Europe and the finale could work. This could keep an aspect of injustice grumbling on throughout the season. This would keep F1 in the press. The bidding for […]

Let’s take a tip from the Tour de France where there are lots of prizes sponsored by lots of different companies bringing revenue into the sport event. Some prizes represent winning in the mountains, some winning […]
P J Squeak commented on the post, Kobayashi will return with Caterham in Abu Dhabi 7 years, 9 months ago
‘ceremonial role’ made me chuckle.
They should probably be ‘Chief Simulator Driver’ and be done with being ‘reserve’. Being ‘reserve’ yet never actually ever driving sounds a bit idle, ‘Chief Simulator Driver’ […]
P J Squeak commented on the post, Should teams boycott race to force action on costs? 7 years, 9 months ago
@hohum – rather than a boycott, imagine if the ‘small teams’ raced at Abu Double in Marussia livery. It would be for the viewer to decide if the six or so identical cars was a protest about money or an act of […]

It has been a long time since there has been an accident in F1 that is of this order of seriousness. The lack of any news in the immediate aftermath was also a bit strange, hinting that this was not just another […]

Lewis was the one the crowds wanted to cheer. Despite not speaking more than two words of Italian he had all of the applause. He won them over on merit and engaged with them in a way that those other folks on the […]
P J Squeak commented on the post, Albers makes sudden departure from Caterham 7 years, 11 months ago
The Airbus/GE ‘proxy sponsors’ have gone. These were partners of Air Asia rather than ‘real’ sponsors so maybe there hasn’t really been a loss, just no more handouts from the pockets of Mr Fernandez.
Maybe […]
P J Squeak commented on the post, Di Resta: People know I can succeed in F1 8 years ago
He lacked charisma and he had no other aspect of personality or driving skill to make up for that. You can quibble about that, however, it is not as if his personality developed over time. The more you got to know […]

Perez does these sorts of things, perhaps not as often as he did when he was at McLaren, however mistakes like this one are something he is known for. I am no Massa fan, however, I was looking forward to seeing […]
