robinsonf1 commented on the post, Teams may be isolated from each other at races behind closed doors 2 years ago
@eurobrun The only way that having 1 mechanic per wheel would make racing better is if they also increased pit limiter speed to compensate for the longer pit stops. Otherwise get ready for 1 stop races and plenty […]

robinsonf1 commented on the post, Ferrari could quit F1 over $145 million budget cap – Binotto 2 years ago
Lol Ferrari ARE the ones crying like a bunch of babies. And the budget cap isn’t necessarily for the good of these smaller teams, it’s for the good of the sport as a whole. Whats the point getting to spend all […]

@optimaximal Leave carbon fibre alone! It goes in the bin, not the atmosphere!
robinsonf1 commented on the post, Hamilton: 2021 weight limit rise "puts more pressure on Pirelli" 2 years, 6 months ago
Why is the weight limit even needed…? The cars have to undergo loads of tests to do with safety and structure so that’s not an issue. Materials are all limited by the FIA regulations so the weight limit doesn’t […]
robinsonf1 commented on the post, Most expensive F1 season ever? Brawn says 2020 cost fears are being 'exaggerated' 2 years, 6 months ago
Of course 2020 is going to be the most expensive year to date as it’s the year you get the most bang for you buck. Why wait a number of years to buy/renew a few CNC machines/autoclaives/[insert other expensive […]
robinsonf1 commented on the post, The drivers are right: F1's helmet restrictions are silly 2 years, 6 months ago
I don’t care about the rule but I also don’t care for drivers changing their helmet every race.

Cars have suspension for a reason… use it!
robinsonf1 commented on the post, Why Leclerc's penalty decision took four hours longer than Kvyat's 2 years, 6 months ago
@mashiat
I actually really like this idea. Can be quite a simple addition to the rules really – just an impact test for each variation of suspension and upright. Will make the cars heavier but will make sure we […]robinsonf1 commented on the post, Why F1 teams should vote tomorrow not to drop qualifying 2 years, 7 months ago
I like the idea but with the massive caveat that it is only implemented on a very few number of race weekends. I like in Indycar how they have different formats for different tracks, gives it more character. Plus […]
robinsonf1 commented on the post, F1 unlikely to approve two mandatory pit stops rule 2 years, 7 months ago
The best way to tackle this situation… reduce the time it takes to do a pitstop to encourage more of them!
We need to think about increasing the pit-lane speed limit – it’s waaay too slow. The issue is […]

Fair play, forgot about the qualifying part. Assumed it was just applied in the race.

robinsonf1 commented on the post, F1 proposes replacing engine grid penalties with ballast penalties 2 years, 8 months ago
It can be broken. For instance in Monaco where you can’t overtake anyway, just take as many engines/gearboxes as you can, fill up the pool and then still win the race.
robinsonf1 commented on the post, F1 proposes replacing engine grid penalties with ballast penalties 2 years, 8 months ago
I really can’t understand how people don’t get the current system. It is not difficult and the alternatives are ideas like this that would probably be more ‘complicated’ to explain. Maybe it’s just Sky…
robinsonf1 commented on the post, Where have all the single-seater race car builders gone? 2 years, 8 months ago
Formula Student is actually quite advanced. Composite tubs, aero development, vehicle dynamics – it’s all there. A few years in formula student is extremely educational.
robinsonf1 commented on the post, Where have all the single-seater race car builders gone? 2 years, 8 months ago
Just the carbon fiber construction alone means that you can not effectively build your own tubeframe chassis car in a shed.
You can actually build composite parts in a shed just as easily as you can build a […]
robinsonf1 commented on the post, Mercedes: Bottas did 'perfect' job slowing field before pit stop 2 years, 11 months ago
Lets do the maths… pit lane speed limit is 80kph (no?). That equates to 22.2 meters per second. They say Bottas was 4 seconds behind. To create a gap of 4 seconds at the pit lane speed limit would mean a gap of […]
