I fail to see what reducing the track time by an hour on Fridays is supposed to accomplish. All the work to get the teams and cars to the track remains the same. Presumably, all the normal garage crew and other […]
schooner commented on the post, Grosjean wants to understand why he didn't pass out in Bahrain crash 9 months, 3 weeks ago
Grosjean has some questions, but how the halo managed to help cleave through the Armco barrier is not one of them.

Yeah, I don’t see how Haas could keep that guy on now even if they wanted to. He is pure poison. I also wonder how they will cope without the Mazepin millions.
schooner commented on the post, Wolff insists Mercedes will not replace Bottas with Russell for 2021 10 months, 1 week ago
I think I know what you mean, but as long as the Mercedes cars are finishing most races in first and second places, Bottas is not a waste of a great seat. Both cars can’t win the race. From Mercedes prospective, […]
If Sainz’s quote wasn’t from a race 3 months ago, it would be easy to read it as a direct reply and a major dig to Verstappen. As you say, the difference in attitudes could hardly be starker.
schooner commented on the post, Perez says he could have kept Russell behind after taking first win 10 months, 2 weeks ago
If Perez does manage to get Albon’s seat for next year, I’m sure it will be EXTREMELY satisfying for him to consistently have Vettel and Stroll in his rear view mirrors.
In my mind, Mercedes really have nothing left to prove in F1. So maybe they should just save themselves how ever many 10’s of millions, give Russell the drive, and let Lewis find somewhere else to go next year. I […]
I absolutely wish Hamilton all the best and hope he gets well soon, but whatever happens here will likely make for a much more interesting race weekend than watching him motor off into the distance…again.
schooner commented on the post, Vettel "tried not to look" at video of Grosjean's crash 10 months, 3 weeks ago
You could say that the very fact that the accident was being shown over and over again was a positive thing. If Grosjean had been seriously injured or worse, the directors probably wouldn’t have shown it at all.
schooner commented on the post, Albon admits he 'should have backed off more' in crash 10 months, 3 weeks ago
I’ve always seen a “tank slapper” as a huge wobble that you pretty much get away with. This was a bit more than a tank slapper.
I commented after Friday practice that I thought maybe the drivers would be having some fun with the unusually slippery track. Guess I was wrong about that, especially after the rain hit, but that doesn’t change […]
I recall the first indoor karting track that I went to years ago. It had a cement surface that was polished specifically to allow for and even promote backing into and broadsliding around the corners. Perhaps not […]
Yeah, David’s comment gave me a chuckle. Where on earth could any of these guys go (or even want to go) aside from F1 to make even a fraction of that?
schooner commented on the post, Losing pole to Hamilton after strong practice is "very annoying" for Bottas 12 months ago
It’s not much of a stretch to say that Bottas is probably the perfect teammate for Hamilton, from both Mecedes’ and Hamilton’s perspective. He only occasionally outperforms Lewis over the course of a weekend (good […]
schooner commented on the post, Grosjean: "Financial reasons" behind Haas decision to replace both drivers 12 months ago
When Haas came along, I admired their choice (and the financial ability) to bring on drivers with little in the way of funding, but fairly long on F1 experience. I thought that really spoke to their ultimate goals […]
schooner commented on the post, Bottas "needs a miracle" to overturn Hamilton's 69-point lead 1 year ago
Bottas has shown that at certain times and circumstances, he can be as fast or even slightly faster than Hamilton. What he has also shown is that he can’t seem to operate at that level with the consistency needed […]
schooner commented on the post, Red Bull want F1 engine freeze to keep racing Honda design 1 year ago
Many people still think that the teams signed an agreement locking them into the sport for the next 5 years. Not even close. What they actually all agreed to was a set of regulations for the next 5 years. One part […]
schooner commented on the post, Hamilton beats Verstappen to pole after Q2 drama – but faces investigation 1 year ago
When Hamilton wound up at the back of the queue after the red flag, I’d have bet money that he wouldn’t get his lap started in time. Good thing there was nobody else in the room to take me up on it.
schooner commented on the post, Mick Schumacher aiming to reclaim father's winning record from Hamilton 1 year ago
Keith’s headline makes this sound perhaps a bit arrogant when Mick’s actual statement was anything but. I would doubt that there is much of a chance that he will ever come close to even approaching those heady […]
schooner commented on the post, Stroll: Some people will always try to "destroy me" 1 year ago
Stroll is doing okay, I guess, but I’d propose that you could take almost any reasonably fit young person who has a huge drive to become a top racing driver, and turn them into one. Provided, of course, that said […]
