Yup, unfortunately Sky holds all the cards – it’s a very poor deal they’re offering Virgin Media customers.

Adam Cooper on Twitter says this will be at 2pm, backed up by a friend of mine who works at RB (the cars should finish running around 3pm).

Two small points that are almost bug reports. I’m a long-time reader but very occasional contributor, so I haven’t really involved myself in all the impressive new social network-style features.

Firstly, when I’m reading an article, want to comment, and sign in, it takes me back to the site front-page. Could it not redirect me to the page I was on when I clicked the sign-in link? (The site exhibits the same behaviour when logging out, but that’s less of a problem in most instances).

Secondly, when I tried to report the above on this thread using my Android phone (HTC Desire default browser), the “View non-mobile site” link just ended up reloading the same mobile site view.

    Cheers.

I clearly remember my Dad pointing out the Leyton House F1 transporter we overtook on the motorway in what must have been the summer of 1990.

I’m pretty certain I saw a couple of other modern F1 transporters up and down the M40 (near Brackley, Silverstone, Didcot, Enstone, etc) in 2003/4/5, but it’s the bright blue truck that stands out in my mind.

@RobR Who “got rid of Allen”? He was employed by ITV right up until the end of their contract. The BBC had someone else already on their staff (Legard, unfortunately) to do the commentary when they began showing F1 last season.

Nobody sacked James Allen, although there had been vocal and widespread criticism of his ITV commentary for years without him getting dropped, and I was one of many who breathed a sign of relief when the BBC hired Brundle (the best expert contributor available, although Ant Davidson is also very good) but left JA to find other work.

Legard is very hard to take seriously (see http://thumbsnap.com/f/C8XxTjU3 for a partial list of the mindless sayings he unthinkingly parrots every other lap) but still grates a little less than Allen did. He gets things wrong less frequently, but still uses Allen’s trick of simply shouting when he’s trying to convey excitement. I noticed Brundle starting to do it at the end of qualifying in Canada, unfortunately. David Croft is miles better for the ears of the most knowledgeable fans; he might not be an improvement on Legard for the other 90% of the TV audience, but I suspect he would be.
