Thanks for your question. Verstappen did fulfil the requirement to use two different compounds during the race: he ran hard tyres between the two red flags.

BasCB commented on the post, Nothing unusual about restart 'deal' conversation with Red Bull – Masi 6 hours, 26 minutes ago
Not sure it is actually against any regulations @alianora-la-canta. It is accepted as precedent (and possibly even in the rules somewhere) that race control can ask a team to instruct their driver to give a place […]

I don’t think Masi was ever going to drop Ocon to third, he just was so focussed on Hamilton and Verstappen that he forgot about Ocon in there at first @randommallard.

Technically, I believe you are right yes. The stewards can, if they feel the need, still investigate anything, regardless of whether Masi refers it to them or not.
Off course in such a case the team would […]

Yeah, I think the issue with the race director giving any “instructions” is that he is not really in a position to officially do so @kaiie. But the “offer” really is as much a free offer as a judge advising you to […]

Right, I must have somehow misread your comment there @rockgod.

@aapje They complained to the government and to the public at large. Since Kingspan are a subset of “public at large”, then yes, they complained to Kingspan (whether Kingspan heard them or not).
What you think […]
@spafrancorchamps You may wish to review your comments upthread, in that case, because they contradict that notion.
@g-funk They do that because the F1 regulations themselves require it in many places.
Nothing bizarre except it is against FIA regulations…
@ivan-vinitskyy I’m flattered you want to hear my take!
This is a new style of article we started playing around with earlier in the year with a different framework to the usual debates which are normally […]
As @andyfromsandy mentions, there are different rules for keeping distance during a SC, during a formation lap for the start of the race and the rules are somewhat different again for a restart after a red flag – […]

commentary on F1TV Pitlane channel did bring that one up yeah @eurobrun

If they both crash out, Verstappen will be champion on countback due to having more wins @rockgod, so it really only matters if Hamilton is able to get only 1 point more than Verstappen is in the next race.
Really solid comment there @hahostolze.
Max Verstappen was given a 10-second time penalty in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix following the latest in a series of clashes between himself and championship rival Lewis Hamilton.
Did the stewards take the […]
BasCB commented on the post, Norris slates F1's "worst rule ever invented" after red flag misfortune 14 hours, 10 minutes ago
In theory that would be ok @asanator. But then we get into issues when they do not HAVE such a set left, something we’ve seen quite often over the years.
Yes, I would be hugely surprised if anything like this could ever happen in the near future and with these people as well @tifoso1989.
Horner has shown his character for years now, Toto has been showing much of […]
Yes, that goes back to the whole thing of “letting them race” and how it breeds this feeling in (certain) drivers that they can do pretty much anything unpunished. That then leads to doing more and more edge case […]
