Spanky Speed commented on the post, Germany loses its F1 race – and Italy could be next 7 years, 11 months ago
So what is a great track? Many people say that Hockenheim is boring, but last year we had maybe the best race of the season there. While Spa is an amazing track but often produces some of the most boring […]

And I’m already looking forward to the insanity that is the Nürburgring 24h where they have 230 cars on the 25km track. Renault Clios mixed with GT3 works teams.
Spanky Speed commented on the post, Vettel's criticism blamed for small German crowd 8 years, 8 months ago
And that’s exactly the reason why I have been to multiple motorsport events at the Nürburgring, to the WEC in Spa, to Zandvoort, to DTM events. But would never ever pay 10 times the amount to attend an F1 race.

There is no speed limit on 65% of the Autobahn.
Spanky Speed commented on the post, Webber: Vettel will be 'protected' in team orders row 10 years ago
You fail to realize one thing, back then there was not NEARLY as much money on the line than nowadays.
The reason why Vettel is allowed to sit in an F1 car is not only because he is a great driver, it’s mainly […]Spanky Speed commented on the post, Ecclestone "massively pushing" for F1's own Danica Patrick 10 years, 1 month ago
Just looked thru the comments to see if anyone would mention Visser!
She is by far the best young female talent in single seaters. I’m pretty sure we’ll see her in GP2 in the coming years.Spanky Speed commented on the post, Ferrari F138 launch – first pictures and video 10 years, 1 month ago

Ok, just after posting I read this:
“Since 1996 Ferrari F1 cars are painted in a brighter, almost orange day-glo to adjust for colour balance on television screens. The original Rosso Corsa may appear almost dark […]Spanky Speed commented on the post, Ferrari F138 launch – first pictures and video 10 years, 1 month ago
Does Ferrari really play with its red colour?
I somehow can’t imagine that. Most likely the exact hue is exactly defined in the corporate identity manual, or not?Spanky Speed commented on the post, 'Rich drivers' a sign cost cuts are needed – Minardi 10 years, 2 months ago
Isn’t the sole point of F1 to provide the fastest drivers in the world with the cars that enable them to drive around a track in the shortest time possible?
Technologies relevant to road cars are mostly […]

Hmm, I just had a look at the energy density of Lithium-Ion batteries….
So 64000MJ would equal 90tons of batteries… assuming they can replace 150kg batteries per pit stop, they would need 600 stops. LOLSpanky Speed commented on the post, Raikkonen and Webber trade race engineers 10 years, 2 months ago
I have another idea, just try to make the engines more fuel efficient.
How about having a racing series with one simple rule: You get x amount of energy for the race. The one who finishes first is the winner. How […]Spanky Speed commented on the post, Hembery: F1 must plan for life after Ecclestone 10 years, 2 months ago
How is it a ‘purer form’ if you basically hamper the technological development?
technological developments = money
It has always been those (expensive) developments which set F1 apart from other motor […]Spanky Speed commented on the post, Hembery: F1 must plan for life after Ecclestone 10 years, 2 months ago

If you believe Maldonado intentionally rammed Perez, I honestly doubt you have any knowledge whatsoever about open wheel racing.
Over-aggressive driving during practice for which he deserved the penalty? Yes. […]Spanky Speed commented on the post, Vettel says 20 races per year is near teams' limit 10 years, 10 months ago

What about the night the mechanics need between the practice sessions and the Qualifying? Do you suggest we have the Qualifying directly before the race? That will cut deeply […]Spanky Speed commented on the post, Vettel says 20 races per year is near teams' limit 10 years, 10 months ago
I’m happy with 20. There’s more than enough motorsport to accommodate F1 off-weekends!
Exactly. This weekend it’s the Nürburgring 24h and DTM for me. Next weekend it’s already overkill with the Monaco GP, Indy […]

Yesterday I calculated that NASCAR is doing on average 2000km between weekends. Sure that’s a bit less than what F1 does.
Anyhow I thought we concluded that NASCAR can handle their 36 race season because the […]- Load More
