Unicron commented on the post, Record-breaking speeds and wide-open field for 2022 edition of IndyCar's biggest race 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Last week I chalked up my 30th anniversary of being an F1 fanatic (1992 San Marino GP was the inception point). F1 is a part of me, its my religion. Naturally, I have a shortlist of F1 races I would like to […]
Unicron commented on the post, Vettel keeps faith in revised Aston Martin despite lack of performance in Spain 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Great photo of the ’97 Spanish Grand Prix start. If my memory serves me right, wasn’t Panis hounding Villeneuve for the lead in the last part of the race? Panis is way back in 12th at the start here so that is […]
Unicron commented on the post, Zhou relieved to overcome 'nerves and pressure' on F1 qualifying debut 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Good to see these comment about the new graphics… I thought it was just me struggling to follows things a bit.
For me part of the issue I had was trying to look up what current position any particular driver […]

He’s misquoting Zelenskeyy anyway, who said he needed anti-tank missiles. Not ammo. So it’s a nice bit of promotion on the back of a terrible situation. That’s a cynical take on it anyway.

The photo of Verstappen’s helmet is very surprising; how did the tyre barrier hit his helmet with the halo in place?! I presume that’s what the red marks are anyway.
Unicron commented on the post, McLaren "a long way off the pace" as weekend proves tougher than expected 9 months, 1 week ago
Bournemouth is bidding for an e-prix, well that’s unexpected! I read in that article that it is up against Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool though so I think it’s chances are slim.
Out of those, Liverpool […]
Unicron commented on the post, Chinese Grand Prix contract extended to 2025 9 months, 1 week ago
With all the talk of getting a second and even a third race in the US to tap into the US economy (and the jury is out on whether that plan will work), I wonder whether there were pre-pandemic plans to do the same […]
Unicron commented on the post, Chinese Grand Prix contract extended to 2025 9 months, 1 week ago
@yaru yes Melbourne is definitely one that I have actually missed. Then Montreal and Suzuka. Shanghai I’d totally forgotten about. Oh, and I’d nearly forgotten about Singapore.
Unicron commented on the post, Chinese Grand Prix contract extended to 2025 9 months, 1 week ago
The what Grand Prix? It’s only been gone for 2 years but it had slipped my mind that it existed! Perhaps a reflection on my fondness for the circuit, but probably more my Swiss cheese memory.
Unicron commented on the post, Third US F1 race should be "further west" – Szafnauer 9 months, 2 weeks ago
Further north, like Road America! No of course not, not an option. Detroit could work, and the city is preparing to resurrect the old F1 Street circuit for Indycar.
In the depths of my memory there was a real […]
Unicron commented on the post, Sydney evaluating F1 street track plan to lure Australian GP away from Melbourne 9 months, 3 weeks ago
There’s also the Homebush Street circuit around the Olympic Village. Not that this would be of any appeal to F1, but I’m just adding that there is technically one other ‘circuit’.
Unicron commented on the post, O'Ward "going to become obsessed" with F1 test debut after McLaren simulator run 9 months, 4 weeks ago
I haven’t been this excited about a driver/team combo since the Montoya/Williams days. Makes me feel young again!
But personally I wouldn’t want to lose him to F1, he’d be stifled there. And he’s so exciting to […]
Unicron commented on the post, Hill on Williams' dominant cars, Brabham's last gasp and the "worst decision" F1 ever made 9 months, 4 weeks ago
Some beautiful cars featured here. The FW16, the FW18, and the Arrows has aged well. The Jordan 191 is my favourite F1 car of all time, but the Jordan 199 is the runner up.
Unicron commented on the post, Six sprint qualifying races and testing changes agreed by F1 Commission for 2022 10 months ago
@robbie this is exactly why I took the decision not to watch any of the sprint qualifying this year. It would be hypocritical of me to say I don’t like the idea, it shouldn’t be in F1… Whilst simultaneously […]

@sonnycrockett that is a very emotional post, I can’t imagine what you and your family went through / are going through. As Miles says, it’s also a very insightful post, speculation yes, but it casts some light on […]
Unicron commented on the post, Drivers urge changes to Eau Rouge and Raidillon after huge W Series crash 11 months, 3 weeks ago
It sounds crazy… But it could actually work couldn’t it. I remember that’s what they did at the fast right hand oink where Kubica had his huge crash in 2008 – counter-intuitively they moved the concrete barrier […]

Unicron commented on the post, Alfa Romeo "can have fun this year" with more competitive car – Giovinazzi 1 year, 4 months ago
That COTD is scary. For anyone who has watched F1 for 10 years (a big chunk of time in anyone’s life) or less they have only ever known DRS.
Even if you’ve been watching it for 29 years, that’s over half the […]
Unicron commented on the post, Hamilton opts for diplomacy over "embarrassing people" in future activism 1 year, 4 months ago
Where is the other Renault in the 2006 photo? Presumably the pitlane. Fisi got a face full of flames from the back of Button’s car on the last lap so it’s odd to think the polesitter and a pitlane starter had […]

@fer-no65 I’m with you there, it annoys me so much when there is a car park of tarmac at the exit of a hairpin. Turn 1 at Austin I’m looking at you…
