Going to the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne 2 years, 8 months agoFor a number of years I’ve stayed in St.Kilda.
Because of it’s ease of access to St.Kilda Rd. I book the Clark Stand. Canterbury Rd. after the race is too much of a crush for me.Wayne Whitaker replied to the topic What's the best grand prix to go to? in the forum
Formula One 7 years, 1 month agoI’d vote for Melbourne, all other things being equal.
Given your constraints of distance I’d vote for Austin, but pick a year when the race doesn’t clash with a college football game. Austin is an interesting place, lots of bars and restaurants, nice track with good GA viewing, good bus shuttle to the track and good track food.

Going to the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne 7 years, 4 months agoI find St. Kilda convenient for access to the track. If I’m flush it’s the Cosmopolitan though I have stayed at the Acland St. Easystay. Acland St. has plenty of cafés and restaurants . I stay in the Clarke stand. That way I get the 16 Tram to St.Kilda in St. Kilda Rd. which avoids the Canterbury Rd.crush.

Going to the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas 7 years, 7 months agoFor 2013 I stayed at the Holiday Inn , which was a 15 min walk from the shuttle pickup at the Convention Centre. I paid an absolute motza for this very ordinary hotel because at the time that was the only available hotel within walking distance to the shuttle. Going to the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas 8 years, 6 months agoMid level Turn 15 for me. Traveling from Australia for the race, trying to economize on the tickets seems pointless. Done my ticketing for Sao Paulo as well now so lots of long haul flying to do.

Going to the Italian Grand Prix at Monza 9 years, 5 months agoThanks Mick. What’s the food like at the track. I’m used to Melbourne where the food is fairly good, Singapore which is good in places, Japan which is OK and Korea, vile.
