However, I’m not really sure where all the F4 talents will go…FR2.0 and F3 are the only options, and above that there seems to be just one viable one, with the other almost certainly on its last legs.
24th April 2015, 10:33 at 10:33 am #297347wsrgoParticipantMax Verstappen, hands down. Unless Esteban Ocon or Charles Leclerc can get a Merc drive before him.
12th April 2015, 3:10 at 3:10 am #296534wsrgoParticipantThanks very much Keith. Will be looking forward to it!
11th April 2015, 10:02 at 10:02 am #296439wsrgoParticipantIlott’s very lucky to get a Carlin F3 drive in his first year in cars. Even Max V wasn’t that lucky last year.
4th April 2015, 2:36 at 2:36 am #295894wsrgoParticipantIt’s clear that Auto GP have steered clear of participating in the first round because despite tying up with FA1, they haven’t got enough entrants yet.
As for the second piece of news, can you give me the link? It’s not surprising though, as the series is run by his father, Enzo Coloni.11th March 2015, 14:18 at 2:18 pm #294030wsrgoParticipantIf Bernstorff doesn’t get the GP2 seat, he should be a contender for the GP3 drive. But Carlin may need a paying option..
11th March 2015, 13:42 at 1:42 pm #294025wsrgoParticipantSurely that’s a sideways move at best?
That might have been the case in the past, but not anymore. GP3 cars are now much closer to GP2 in terms of speed, and in terms of tyres and tracks they are almost identical. They also have reverse grid races.
But yes, it’s definitely a bit of a comedown from his first rumoured move in the off-season (the DAMS seat which ultimately went to Lynn). Still, Ocon v Kirchhofer should be a mothwatering clash for 2015.

It does prove though, that we should think twice before reading on face value, the supposed ‘exclusives’ apparently reliable sites like Sky and Autosport give. Jumping the gun on the basis of their reports is unadvisable, though the latter definitely have a better hit rate.23rd January 2015, 11:43 at 11:43 am #290764wsrgoParticipantI didn’t say it then, I’ll say it now..it was shoddy journalism from both Sky and Keith.
There was nothing official anywhere about Marciello joining Racing Engineering, as I insisted, in the comments section, at the time Ferrari confirmed he would do GP2. Unfortunately, Sky began circulating an assumption they had made, but I was more shocked that Keith took the bait and reported the assumption as well.
Shoddy journalism on both counts, though it pains me to say this. I hope in future, F1Fanatic will report official news, rather than simply reproducing assumptions made by supposedly reliable sites.14th September 2014, 14:15 at 2:15 pm #274608wsrgoParticipantFunny how the commentator is more concerned about who’s finishing ninth than fourth, just because he’s British.
14th September 2014, 14:10 at 2:10 pm #274607wsrgoParticipantHerta drove in the Formula BMW Asiacup series this weekend at Sepang and won a race and finished on the podium in two more. It’s really impressive, given that Aussie Jake Parsons has won 7 of the 8 races in the series this year, and Herta is four years younger than Parsons.
13th August 2014, 4:55 at 4:55 am #270345wsrgoParticipantOh dear. Pierre Gasly and Alex Lynn must not have been too excite by this piece of news.
9th August 2014, 4:23 at 4:23 am #270224wsrgoParticipantHow do you fire a president? I thought he/she is the one who does all the firing :P
