Ferrari introduced the F2002 at the 2002 Brazilian Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher won with it first time out, while team mate Rubens Barrichello had to continue using the previous year’s car.

For the rest of the season both had use of the F2002 and Ferrari dominated the championship. The car proved competitive and reliable enough for Schumacher to finish every race on the podium.

Schumacher won the drivers championship at the French Grand Prix in July – the earliest the title has ever been decided – and Ferrari claimed the constructors’ championship for the fourth year in a row.

The car remained in use for the first three races of 2003, when it remained sufficiently competitive for Schumacher to win its final race at Imola that year.
