Posted onRomain Grosjean will take Nelson Piquet Jnr’s place in the second Renault at this weekend’s European Grand Prix. The identity of Fernando Alonso’s new team mate will not come as a surprise to many – Grosjean was linked to the seat as early as April 2008.

His replacement has not been officially confirmed but is expected to be Renault Development driver Romain Grosjean. Piquet’s replacement will either race at Valencia or Spa-Francorchamps, depending on whether the team’s appeal against its ban is successful.
