Clearly the Mclaren’s were cruising to the finish.

sure thing… midway through the race, the best lap times were RBR and Mclaren together very close and then a 1 sec gap between them and the rest (Rosberg leading the rest)

Wow, I missed that petrol FL. Presumably down to the new tyres and fuel load following the collision with Alonso

Fastest laps, not positions

Yea, realised just after posting. doh.

Well, to be fair Petrov, Webber, Alguearsuari and buemi set their fastest laps after their 2nd pitstop – on fresh rubber.
We should take this into account while looking into fastest lap times.
It looks like Kubica was the fastest on the used tires.

Good point about Kubica, seems like Renault has the same problem as Ferrari – poor pace in qualifying but great during the race.
In case of Mercedes the is the opposite situation, they are quite fast in quali but usually create ‘train’ during the race.

Would it be possible to get the lap number the times were set on?

It’s worth to check driver’s speed trap.
According to F1.com’s live timing Hamilton trashed others

I’d think top speed is less affected by fuel load than overall lap time is.
So Hamilton could set a good speed trap time when he was racing at his fastest, and whilst the laptime would later look unimpressive, the speed would be comparable.

In Soviet Russia, fastest lap sets you.
