I’m also on 1920×1080 and it’s looking really good to be honest. I have a great wallpaper even without the words on the bottom left. You should try, it’s really worth it!
How about Button fully cheering his team on there? Pretty good team player. People often talk about cojones in motorsports. Seems to me like it takes some serious ones to be beaten by your teammate, directly on the track and then some, yet celebrate the team’s victory without a sign of a pout. Maturity. Good on Jenson.
OK, so, what’s with the new (F-?)duct on the Mercedes?
It suddenly appeared on the car at this race, and I just caught it during a pitstop, and these pix confirm. It is just behind the Car # and integrated into the black graphic / logo behind that
@pemsell: Dead center, from the pitot tube, working backwards…
You have:
Pitot tube
>> another vertical rod (anttenae?) immediately behind
>> the Car number decal (8 or 7)
>> the mystery slot / duct (which is almost integrated (hidden?) in
>> the black logo/graphic
>> then the teal blue Petronas logo
>> then that longitudinal bulge
>> then the windshield
>> then cockpit…
so the mystery slot is after the Number decal and on the leading edge of the Black Graphic. See it??
Ah yes I see it Stubie, no idea what it could be. Have they found a loophole in the f-duct law, or is is simply cooling or measurements. Suppose it might come out in one of the tech blogs like Scarbs. Well spotted!
So, I was wrong.
That duct/slot actually appeared during the Malaysian weekend.
But…
You would never know…
Why?
Try to find a picture of the Mercedes during the Malaysian GP weekend in the gallery on this site. Hmmmm… not that many, huh? There is one pic of Schu locking the fronts during practice, but other than that… nothing, except a few race shots… and those were supplied by other teams…
I smell a conspiracy!!
:-)
this is fun…
any clues as to what that duct is about? anybody?
usually ducts like that are for airflow to the cockpit, a kind of air conditioning in a sense. Interesting that they have it in china though given it wasn’t really that hot so perhaps it is for something else.
Hi Keith – your website is very good!
However, I do have one suggestion… can you improve the way the site displays photos? It feels as though this aspect of the site isn’t quite right as it is quite cumbersome, compared with modern websites (eg. how’s about a jquery image gallery?)
Are there any plans for change in this area?
This gallery really is a testament to what a great race this was, I have not seen so many great shots of cars in close combat and overtaking scenes in images…..Fantastic stuff :)

Good to see Mark Webber smiling again. That drive should get his confidence back up and set him up nicely for the rest of the season.

Next to Hamiltons drive that was the best driver. Great achievement by Webber.

Awesome pics this time. Looks like your photographer had his access bumped up?
Still not HD wide though, so cant use them as a wallpaper :(
Any chance of releasing them in 1920×1080 in the future?

Im not sure what you are seeing, all I can see is the Pitot tube which is used to measure air pressure/speed over the nose of the car.

@pemsell & @Fixy: so I am not going insane! whew! I spotted it during a pitstop and rewound the DVR a couple times, but it took the pix to confirm.
