  1. Good to see Mark Webber smiling again. That drive should get his confidence back up and set him up nicely for the rest of the season.

    1. Next to Hamiltons drive that was the best driver. Great achievement by Webber.

    2. Yea it was good, when you get a smile from him you know it’s genuine. Thrilled for him, outstanding stuff.

  2. Awesome pics this time. Looks like your photographer had his access bumped up?

Still not HD wide though, so cant use them as a wallpaper :(

Any chance of releasing them in 1920×1080 in the future?

    1. I’m also on 1920×1080 and it’s looking really good to be honest. I have a great wallpaper even without the words on the bottom left. You should try, it’s really worth it!

Just crop the photos to 16:9. That’s what I do. They fit my desktop perfectly now.

  3. I love the picture of the two McLaren’s side by side. Its my new desktop background and I’m not even a McLaren fan!

    1. Wonderful shot – I’m waiting for a Ferrari one!

  4. More f1 wallpapers!

    1. shame there’s no pic of Button in the red bull pit box.

  5. Nice shot of Lewis spitting the champagne out.

  6. How about Button fully cheering his team on there? Pretty good team player. People often talk about cojones in motorsports. Seems to me like it takes some serious ones to be beaten by your teammate, directly on the track and then some, yet celebrate the team’s victory without a sign of a pout. Maturity. Good on Jenson.

    1. Maturity? Maybe. Honestly, I think Jenson is satisfied with finishing behind his teammate.

  7. The massive stands in Shanghai really are something to behold. That one of Hamilton with it in the background? Impressive is not the word.

    1. Yeah it seemed to be fairly packed this year (albeit with some empty stands), it’s good to see.

      1. Just hope those tickets were paid for and not sponsors trying to put a pretty face on things.

this time Hamilton-McLaren have LUCKY, but it was clear that RED BULL could have won easily.

  9. OK, so, what’s with the new (F-?)duct on the Mercedes?

It suddenly appeared on the car at this race, and I just caught it during a pitstop, and these pix confirm. It is just behind the Car # and integrated into the black graphic / logo behind that

    Any ideas anyone?

    1. Im not sure what you are seeing, all I can see is the Pitot tube which is used to measure air pressure/speed over the nose of the car.

      1. @pemsell: Dead center, from the pitot tube, working backwards…

        You have:
        Pitot tube
        >> another vertical rod (anttenae?) immediately behind
        >> the Car number decal (8 or 7)
        >> the mystery slot / duct (which is almost integrated (hidden?) in
        >> the black logo/graphic
        >> then the teal blue Petronas logo
        >> then that longitudinal bulge
        >> then the windshield
        >> then cockpit…

so the mystery slot is after the Number decal and on the leading edge of the Black Graphic. See it??

        1. I see it but I can’t imagine what it is.

        2. Ah yes I see it Stubie, no idea what it could be. Have they found a loophole in the f-duct law, or is is simply cooling or measurements. Suppose it might come out in one of the tech blogs like Scarbs. Well spotted!

          1. @pemsell & @Fixy: so I am not going insane! whew! I spotted it during a pitstop and rewound the DVR a couple times, but it took the pix to confirm.

@pemsell: I did send @ScarbsF1 a tweet asking about it… so we’ll see if he responds.

        3. So, I was wrong.
That duct/slot actually appeared during the Malaysian weekend.

          But…
          You would never know…
          Why?
Try to find a picture of the Mercedes during the Malaysian GP weekend in the gallery on this site. Hmmmm… not that many, huh? There is one pic of Schu locking the fronts during practice, but other than that… nothing, except a few race shots… and those were supplied by other teams…

          I smell a conspiracy!!

          :-)
          this is fun…
any clues as to what that duct is about? anybody?

    2. usually ducts like that are for airflow to the cockpit, a kind of air conditioning in a sense. Interesting that they have it in china though given it wasn’t really that hot so perhaps it is for something else.

  10. That Schumacher/Alonso picture is one for the ages. Just perfect. A culmination of history. Perfect.

      Which one?

  11. is there’s any picture of button in red bull pitbox? that would make a perfect wallpaper for me

    1. I wished there was one too!

  12. How is it that Liuzzi initially had the fin, then it disappeared?

    1. Hmm. I was under the impression both those pictures were from the race but clearly they’re not. Will have a look and change them accordingly.

      1. Hi Keith – your website is very good!
However, I do have one suggestion… can you improve the way the site displays photos? It feels as though this aspect of the site isn’t quite right as it is quite cumbersome, compared with modern websites (eg. how’s about a jquery image gallery?)
Are there any plans for change in this area?

        1. It’s not a priority area at the moment – there’s a lot of other things I want to fix or improve first. I’ll keep it in mind though.

  13. Also good to see that the trophies look like they’re in keeping with the country or origin, and not some strange abstract piece or a sponsor logo.

    1. Yeah, I like them for being something with a connection to the country.

And I loved how Lewis poored champagne in his!

  14. This gallery really is a testament to what a great race this was, I have not seen so many great shots of cars in close combat and overtaking scenes in images…..Fantastic stuff :)
