I’ve been wondering the same for some time as well. I think some drivers get invited for nationality reasons like Massa, and Nasr in the Thursday conference for the Brazilian GP, Ricciardo in Melbourne, Kvyat in Sochi, etc. Perez and Gutierrez will probably be among the drivers who’ll get chosen to attend the Thursday press conference for the Mexican GP next October.
I think it’s all decided based on, as Jerejj said, nationality, along with who’s relevant. E.g. Rookies in the first few races, title contenders (Hamilton and Rosberg), who has a history at the circuit, Alonso obviously with his crash, etc.

How is the drivers press conference organized? Are there rules who sits in front, or who gets invited? Or is it more a flexible thing.
