Enzo Fittipaldi took a memorable victory in Formula 2’s Jeddah feature race after a stunning pass on two rivals to take the lead.
The Van Amersfoort driver rose from fourth on the grid to claim his second F2 victory and the first feature race win of his career.Fittipaldi passed pole-winner Kush Maini at the mid-point of the race after the pair had pitted for hard tyres. Following a Safety Car period, Fittipaldi moved ahead of Taylor Barnard before overtaking both Amaury Cordeel and Juan Manuel Correa around the outside into turn one to take the lead.
Once in the lead Fittipaldi pulled away out front to win by just under eight seconds with Maini taking second place. Dennis Hauger snatched third place on the podium after a photo finish, centimetres ahead of Jak Crawford in fourth and Cordeel fifth. However after the race the stewards announced Hauger was under investigation for crossing the pit entry line, putting him at risk of a penalty.
Mercedes junior Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished sixth ahead of Sauber junior Zane Maloney. Richard Verschoor, who won yesterday’s sprint race before being disqualified for a technical infringement, took eighth.
Rafael Villagomez and Victor Martins claimed the final points in ninth and tenth, respectively. After not making his compulsory pit stop until late in the race, Correa fell to finish in 14th position.
Pepe Marti and Roman Stanek were the first retirements from the race after Marti appeared to lose control under throttle at the exit of turn two, Stanek hitting the Campos and putting both out. Williams junior Franco Colapinto fell out of the race after hitting the wall on the exit of turn 27, damaging his right-rear suspension which failed under braking for the first corner.

This is really bad- dull dull dull. The tyres are awful. This track is soulless. I’m hoping for dodgy mid season rule changes that hamper red bull.

Given that the Campos team is essentially the Red Bull team here, I am unsure why their DNF’s in this race, or overall mid table positioning requires any hampering.
