Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Alonso to join Aston Martin in 2023 on "multi-year" deal 1 week, 5 days ago
Seeing how fast this deal was announced, I’m sure Alonso had a deal ready to sign a long time ago. This wasn’t agreed upon on Sunday morning, right? So Alonso’s “10 minute” comments make very little sense.

I think Alpine only offered a one-year contract without any driver clauses, Aston Martin probably rocked up with a 2+1 deal. Alonso wants to extend his career, and Aston Martin offered him the ability. It makes […]

That seat can only belong to Oscar Piastri.
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Vettel announces he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of 2022 2 weeks, 1 day ago
I don’t see him joining Formula E either, because their seasons (albeit shorter than F1) are still long and global which will detract from time with his family. I could see him joining WEC or DTM if he wants to […]
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Leclerc could win every remaining race but still lose the title to Verstappen 2 weeks, 3 days ago
Well, the cars from “most of his F1 racing life” aren’t in use this year. Vettel has finished higher than 10th on three races this year, so that’s the stat you can use to highlight Stroll’s poorer season. Stroll […]

True, and that could also swing both ways. “If Verstappen hadn’t retired, he could have another 50 points and lead the championship by close to 130 points”.
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Leclerc could win every remaining race but still lose the title to Verstappen 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Finished is a generous term for Stroll. He was classified in Azerbaijan, but did retire with a few laps to go. Lewis has completed all but 1 lap (he was lapped at Imola) this season.

This was Sainz’s 2nd Fastest Lap since joining Ferrari, and 3rd of his career.
Charles Leclerc now has as many retirements as he has race wins this season (which was also true before winning in Austria). All […]
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, FIA affirms three sprint races on 2023 Formula 1 calendar 3 weeks, 1 day ago
It’s not a failed experiment. They generate money for Liberty, which in turn increases payouts to the teams. That’s why both F1 and the teams are pushing for more Sprints. We may not like it, it ruins qualifying […]

Leclerc overtaking Verstappen thrice, then managing an issue at the end yet winning. He’s an 8.
Verstappen, severely outpaced due to an inability to keep his tyres alive. He’s a 7.
It does not make sense to […]
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Ferrari is most-improved team year-on-year at halfway point in 2022 1 month ago
Interesting to see McLaren actually doing comparably worse than Mercedes. I wasn’t expecting that, seeing how Lando has been on the podium this year.
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, "Very likely" Sainz's engine failure was the same as Leclerc's in Baku – Binotto 1 month ago
It’s either to make a fast but unreliable engine reliable than make a slow but reliable engine fast! Definitely bad for 2022, maybe bad for 2023 too, but likely great for 2024 and 2025.
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, "Very likely" Sainz's engine failure was the same as Leclerc's in Baku – Binotto 1 month ago
Engines are not included in the cost cap, no. This is to balance the budgets of engine customers vs engine manufacturers. You develop the engines separately, then every team (including Ferrari) “buys” them for a […]

Sorry. “homologated and APPROVED” it should read!
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Wurz calls for safety work on roll hoops and sausage kerbs after Silverstone crashes 1 month, 1 week ago
Teams will always find weight gains where they can, but the collapsing roll hoop is still homologated and improved by the FIA. Surely improving the rules will lead to safer roll hoops and less risk of collapsing. […]
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, De Vries and Vandoorne won't stay when Mercedes Formula E team becomes McLaren 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Or maybe de Vries and Vandoorne are employed by Mercedes, and have indicated they have no desire to cut those ties. Instead of renting them in to McLaren, the papayas will hire their own drivers. Felix is almost […]
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, "F1 22": The RaceFans review of the official Formula 1 game 1 month, 2 weeks ago
So many tracks in F1 2021 showed clear signs of aging, and F1 22 seems to maintain them unchanged. This is an incredibly disappointing fact for what should be the pinnacle of digital racing. A clear “get it when […]
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Schumacher sees 'loads of positives' for Haas after early retirement from seventh 1 month, 3 weeks ago
They will only bring one major update this year, and as of now it seems scheduled for Hungary which is some time away still! Budget is still very tight for them despite the cap.
Christopher Rehn commented on the post, Could F1's budget cap impasse tip the balance in the title fight? 2 months ago
If inflation is at roughly 6% (and they knew this back in November), then staying within 5% should be super easy. Cutting down on some development, taking fewer staff to tracks, and being lucky with few incidents […]
