Ciaran commented on the post, Rookie Zhou earns second year in F1 with Alfa Romeo 13 hours, 17 minutes ago
I’m glad he’s gotten another year, though he’d want to step up in 2023. I imagine his sponsorship is heavily tied to the Chinese Grand Prix, and if that gets affected by their covid policy again then it could be […]
Looks pretty gaudy – it suits the cryptosphere perfectly!
While it’s good that they’re covering freight costs, and the change in calendar structure after 2020 was positive, I still don’t think they’re doing enough to reduce the cost of F2. We’re still sorely missing the […]
@red-andy I do wonder if, as part of Abu Dhabi’s contract with F1 where they pay a huge amount to be the guaranteed series finale, it also covers F2? Otherwise I agree shortening the season by dropping that one […]
My respect for Lewis has grown immensely since last year. He seems so much more confident and assured, and it’s great to see him so passionate again. People who have relentlessly hated on him since 2007 will […]

Indycar: Castroneves, Dixon, Palau, O’Ward, Herta, Newgarden, Pagenaud, Power, Rahal
Super Formula: Yamamoto, Nojiri, Hirakawa
F2: Drugovich, Pourchaire, Doohan, Sargeant
There’s a lot of Indycar drivers I […]
Do we know exactly how long the Clerk of the Course took to tell the SC to wave by Russell+backmarkers?
Very frustrating that this happened when the racing was so promising, but the rulebook had enough scope […]
It’s a good first step at the very least. Though I’m still doubtful how seriously they will take the drivers’ feedback once behind closed doors.
@red-andy In hindsight I would say the decisions to not resume the race (to avoid pushing out F2), and the penalties were all understandable. However the timing of them, and the delays it took to implement the […]
For anyone who’s not familiar, Di Grassi is by far the most annoying person on Twitter by a mile, motorsports-related or not. Given it’s Twitter we’re talking about, that’s quite an achievement! Anyone who puts […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Haas to run Giovinazzi in two practice sessions after Ferrari request 1 month ago
@captainpie That would make a lot of sense. If Haas are remaining technically aligned with Ferrari, this is an interesting way of Haas being able to assess how their upgrades are working, assuming that’s what it […]
Enjoyable reading as always. Versus other seasons I feel there’s less argument as to who’s top and near the bottom of the rankings. Verstappen is in a class of his own, and Latifi/Schumacher/Stroll/Ricciardo need […]
“Even if he has become a rather mean-spirited meme in F1 fan culture three seasons into his career”
There’s always one, unfortunately.
Permenantly-online fans have tended towards this habit of becoming […]

@ajpennypacker Get out of here with your knowledge and insight, we’re being outraged here! I mean it’s not like we’ve been here a hundred times before or anything ;)
Ciaran commented on the post, Another season at AlphaTauri for Gasly officially confirmed 3 months ago
It’s a bit of a mixed bag for Gasly, who may have preferred to escape from the Red Bull ecosphere and move to somewhere like McLaren or Aston Martin. But it seems pretty clear there wasn’t a good opportunity […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Canadian politician slates Vettel's 'hypocrisy' over tar sands criticism 3 months, 1 week ago
I suspect this kind of discussion will only become more frequent in the coming years. But I’m glad Vettel has spoken up for what he believes in, otherwise I never would have heard of tar sands mining at all! He’ll […]
Seems like a reasonable attempt at a solution. Very difficult to see if this will be sufficient, but there’s no way for them to implement a fix for porpoising without affecting some teams more than others. If the […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Melbourne gets new 10-year F1 deal plus F2 and F3 support races 3 months, 1 week ago
@keithcollantine After the 2021 seasons went to such lengths to reduce costs for F2 and F3 it’s a surprising decision for sure. Not that I mind too much as they should put on a great show on the revised layout!
Ciaran commented on the post, Melbourne gets new 10-year F1 deal plus F2 and F3 support races 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Great news. Though I’m a bit surprised that F2 and F3 are going all the way to Australia. Is keeping costs low not a priority for them any more?
