Ciaran commented on the post, Las Vegas race date leaked, indicating race start times outside USA 1 week ago
@ajpennypacker Get out of here with your knowledge and insight, we’re being outraged here! I mean it’s not like we’ve been here a hundred times before or anything ;)
Ciaran commented on the post, Another season at AlphaTauri for Gasly officially confirmed 1 month, 3 weeks ago
It’s a bit of a mixed bag for Gasly, who may have preferred to escape from the Red Bull ecosphere and move to somewhere like McLaren or Aston Martin. But it seems pretty clear there wasn’t a good opportunity […]
Ciaran commented on the post, 2022 Canadian Grand Prix grid 1 month, 4 weeks ago
Great session. Alonso can stay in F1 as long as he likes with drives like these!
Sainz had his opportunity but bottled it again. That’s the crucial difference between him and Leclerc that he keeps exposing.
Ciaran commented on the post, Canadian politician slates Vettel's 'hypocrisy' over tar sands criticism 1 month, 4 weeks ago
I suspect this kind of discussion will only become more frequent in the coming years. But I’m glad Vettel has spoken up for what he believes in, otherwise I never would have heard of tar sands mining at all! He’ll […]
Ciaran commented on the post, FIA issues new technical directive to reduce 'porpoising' on safety grounds 2 months ago
Seems like a reasonable attempt at a solution. Very difficult to see if this will be sufficient, but there’s no way for them to implement a fix for porpoising without affecting some teams more than others. If the […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Melbourne gets new 10-year F1 deal plus F2 and F3 support races 2 months ago
@keithcollantine After the 2021 seasons went to such lengths to reduce costs for F2 and F3 it’s a surprising decision for sure. Not that I mind too much as they should put on a great show on the revised layout!
Ciaran commented on the post, Melbourne gets new 10-year F1 deal plus F2 and F3 support races 2 months ago
Great news. Though I’m a bit surprised that F2 and F3 are going all the way to Australia. Is keeping costs low not a priority for them any more?
Ciaran commented on the post, Tsunoda thought he had an engine problem when his DRS flap failed 2 months ago
Surely there was a more informed thought yesterday than COTD. The constant outrage bait gets tiring sometimes.
Ciaran commented on the post, Leclerc beats Perez to Baku pole, Hamilton under investigation 2 months ago
Very enjoyable qualifying, these 2022 cars seem trickier to handle at circuits like these, and even tiny-looking mistakes are having large and visible consequences.
Disappointed for Sainz but this highlights […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Stewards told Ocon he wouldn't have had penalty for Hamilton clash last year 2 months, 2 weeks ago
@jerejj Good thinking, I was also reminded of the same crash. In both cases Hamilton inches closer under braking, but only gets to the defending driver’s read wheel/sidepod area. On most tracks this wouldn’t be […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Ecclestone 'arrested after gun found in luggage' 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Well that’s the unexpected news story of the day. Though his history with German courts suggests he’ll probably pay his way out of this one as well!
Ciaran commented on the post, Alonso unsure if he will return to Indianapolis 500 2 months, 3 weeks ago
As much as I’d like to argue with COTD, if Alonso did get a competitive car tomorrow, he’d still lose against Verstappen who’s in his prime. No amount of racecraft and wiliness can make up for the sheer pace […]
Ciaran commented on the post, The unshakeable self-belief driving Alonso's 16-year pursuit of a third world title 2 months, 4 weeks ago
I’m doubtful that he would have the speed+consistency of Verstappen or Hamilton at his current age, plus the chances of Alpine getting him a competitive car are increasingly slim. But I don’t feel he should move […]
Ciaran commented on the post, F1 scraps plan to replace cancelled Russian Grand Prix 2 months, 4 weeks ago
I’m quite surprised by this. There should have been no shortage of interest – did Liberty put the price tag too high? Or did they give teams some breathing room by removing a triple-header? The latter would be […]
Ciaran commented on the post, "A very good start": How F1's new race director has tightened up its racing rules 3 months ago
Communication and implementation of the rules are significantly improved so far this year. Most fans will have no idea who Wittich and Freitas are, and the longer it stays that way, the better.
I’d be curious […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Climate change makes me question my F1 future says Vettel as he talks Putin, Brexit and more 3 months ago
Seb is very intelligent and articulate, and in an era of increasing expectations of social responsibility, F1 should be glad to have him represent the sport’s image.
Though I wonder why public figures like him, […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Climate change makes me question my F1 future says Vettel as he talks Putin, Brexit and more 3 months ago
Now that gave me a good chuckle @red-andy! Watching various communities on Reddit shift their hate as predictably as the tide is great entertainment once you get used to it.
Ciaran commented on the post, Alpine complain they had no say over penalty which cost Alonso points 3 months ago
I presume the stewards had all data available to them, especially after the race, and therefore there was nothing Alpine could have presented that should have swayed their opinion. Also I’m pleased that they chose […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Strategy, not luck, earned Williams' points finishes – Albon 3 months, 1 week ago
With the huge spike in popularity, Liberty and F1 would be mad not to rush into America and see what sticks. Though I agree that consistency is key from 2023 onwards – hype alone will not make Miami and Las Vegas […]

I watched the f1tv coverage for the first time this weekend and found it to be very refreshing. Ben Edwards is a top quality commentator, far superior to Crofty’s shouting. Watson was enjoying himself as well, […]
