Dan G commented on the post, Analysis: Why Aston Martin made medium tyre call – and did it cost Alonso victory? 5 days, 13 hours ago
Good point, Alonso could have been right behind Max if he’d started on mediums (could being the operative word, as the AM might have used up the medium tyres before lap 54). But starting on the same strategy as a […]

You’re not. Max would have been pitted for inters straightaway – next lap – if Alonso had. Alonso would not have made an undercut.

Dan G commented on the post, Analysis: Why Aston Martin made medium tyre call – and did it cost Alonso victory? 5 days, 13 hours ago
Yeah I don’t see where Wolff is coming from. Alonso had no route to getting track position on Max, he would not have got have got ahead of Max’s pit window in a single lap if he’d been given inters instead of […]

In this age of budget caps and limits on the number of track personnel I’ve wondered if teams do still employ spotters. I rather think they don’t. Not sure they use meteorologists either.

Dan G commented on the post, Horner not bothered by Red Bull's rivals 'looking up our skirt' 6 days, 14 hours ago
Well he would say that, wouldn’t he! I think this could be a real turning point. Red Bull’s advantage is all aerodynamics and that’s just been fully revealed. There’s a reason Red Bull mechanics form a human […]

Must say I don’t understand the appeal of Steiner. He must be a nightmare as a boss and he’s not exactly delivering results.

Dan G commented on the post, "One session is enough": F1 drivers back Domenicali's call to cut practice 2 months ago
I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding here. What George is saying is “let’s have sprint race weekends all the time.” I wouldn’t mind that, personally.

Don’t underestimate how good the simulators are and how much they’re used.

This is about all race weekends having sprint races.

Dan G commented on the post, Explained: The chemistry behind F1’s sustainable fuel future 2 months, 1 week ago
It’s doubtful batteries will ever reach the energy density necessary for F1 performance (or for aviation). I’m not feeling cynical about this.

No. As stated, it’s from water.

Dan G commented on the post, Explained: The chemistry behind F1’s sustainable fuel future 2 months, 1 week ago
That’s a really interesting idea. Problem with that though is the broader the regulations, the bigger the risk to a power unit constructor of getting it wrong and being uncompetitive after spending tens of […]

Dan G commented on the post, Explained: The chemistry behind F1’s sustainable fuel future 2 months, 1 week ago
Depends what you’re trying to do. Battery energy density currently gives us race cars with the performance of Formula E – good but not F1 level. Formula E is pushing the state of the art but it won’t be ready f […]

Formula 1 is all about being on the leading edge of technology and this is the epitome of that – driving forwards and scaling new technologies to give us high-density fuels suitable for motor racing (and a […]
