Dan G commented on the post, Transcript: Why Ferrari told Leclerc 'the hard is worse than expected' but still used it 1 week, 3 days ago
Everybody seems to be ignoring the lap times. While Leclerc said he could do 7-8 more laps on the first stint, on his 21st lap Charles was two seconds slower than on his 20th. The tyres had gone.
When Charles […]
Dan G commented on the post, Television broadcast gave "nonsensical" impression of Sainz radio call – Ferrari 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Ben Edwards is back commentating?! By far the best modern era commentator but I thought he’d retired.
Dan G commented on the post, Why Red Bull believe they could have won in France even without Leclerc's crash 2 weeks, 6 days ago
Verstappen would have needed to have stop again. Leclerc would not have.
Dan G commented on the post, FIA proposes 2023 rules changes to address "significant safety matter" of porpoising 1 month ago
It’s absolutely necessary. 10g vertical at 3Hz or thereabouts is asking for lifelong spinal damage, which isn’t pleasant.

Better that, without question, than a dead driver.
Dan G commented on the post, Double stacking fears behind call not to pit Leclerc, says Binotto 1 month, 1 week ago
Does no-one here understand that in F1 the constructor’s championship is more important to the teams than the driver’s championship?
Ferrari took the strategy that maximised the team’s points haul, it’s pretty simple.
Dan G commented on the post, Hard tyres may have been wrong choice for final attack on Verstappen – Sainz 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I’m glad there’s still the occasional comment worth reading on here!
All good points. Softs would have been marginal for 16 laps and would have left Sainz vulnerable to Hamilton for 20.
Am curious how […]
Dan G commented on the post, Vettel removed controversial 'climate crime' helmet for Canadian Grand Prix 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Considering that the Canadian tar sands companies compete against Aramco, I doubt the latter had anything to do with Vettel’s helmet choice on Sunday.
Aramco would like nothing more than North American tar […]
Dan G commented on the post, Mercedes admit they pushed set-up "too far" after Hamilton's Azerbaijan GP agony 2 months ago
I think it’s unfortunate that we have a set of regulations where frankly dangerous set-ups improve performance. That’s not been the case since the early ’80s.
Dan G commented on the post, Mercedes plan reserve driver "solution" for Canada in case Hamilton cannot drive 2 months ago
To be clear, you can’t sign away duty of care, and contractors still have to be protected from harm in the course of their activity.
If Mercedes are risking injury their drivers they have to remove that risk, […]

Boxers don’t fight for a team. Drivers are contractors
Dan G commented on the post, Mercedes plan reserve driver "solution" for Canada in case Hamilton cannot drive 2 months ago
I think Mercedes (and probably other teams) are sailing close to the wind here. If drivers are actually being injured — not just uncomfortable — then by law the team has to prevent that, whatever it takes. […]
Dan G commented on the post, Why regionalising F1's calendar is a worthwhile step towards cutting its emissions 2 months, 1 week ago
I never understood that jaunt to Canada part way through the European season.
This year’s calendar is nuts. I’m glad some effort is being made to sort it out.
Dan G commented on the post, Perez keeps win, Verstappen stays third as stewards reject Ferrari protest 2 months, 2 weeks ago
With track limits, they’re exceeded when a car is wholly off the track and no part of a tyre is in contact with the white line.
With the pit limit line, it seems it’s been judged that that a car isn’t over it […]
Dan G commented on the post, Perez keeps win, Verstappen stays third as stewards reject Ferrari protest 2 months, 2 weeks ago
@randomMallard that’s a good shout. I’ve never been a fan of drivers turning in on others — they need to leave room. Hopefully this decision settles that.
Dan G commented on the post, Albon didn't let Leclerc lap him because 'it was quicker for both of us if I stayed ahead' 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Not sure we need to jump straight to accusing Albon of lying, but he’s self-evidently wrong in his assessment.
Dan G commented on the post, Perez grabs Monaco GP win as Ferrari's tactical error thwarts Leclerc 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Great point.
I think after Ferrari has analysed this, Leclerc might be less upset. It was a tough one.

Watching back on C4…
Perez stops for inters lap 17, came out 2s behind Norris
Sai, Lec stays out on lap 18, behind them Norris pits and falls behind rus, alo, presumably clearing a gap
Lec and ver pit […]
Dan G commented on the post, Perez grabs Monaco GP win as Ferrari's tactical error thwarts Leclerc 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Yes I think that may well be the case. It was hard to keep track of everything live but I think the front runners were waiting for gaps to open up behind once inters became the faster tyre. Red Bull took the […]

I’ll add that I think Monaco is probably the one track you can go full wet->slick on a rapidly drying track as it’s the lowest-energy track of the season, so the wet doesn’t overheat as quickly as it would anywhere else.
