We probably won’t know that until the middle of next year. I’m sure they are keeping an eye on it, though, coz it’s unlikely any other team will get away with a slap on the wrist again.

drmouse commented on the post, "We can" win every race this year says Verstappen, but it's "very unlikely" 5 hours, 11 minutes ago
I still think there is a good chance RBR will win all the races this year. They have a very significant advantage over the rest of the field, and Perez has been on better form than he has in the past, too. Any […]

drmouse commented on the post, Now Catalunya's chicane is gone, which tracks would we 'fix'? 5 hours, 33 minutes ago
I do wonder, as others have mentioned, if it’s the cars which are the problem rather than the tracks. They have grown wider and longer, increasing the turning circle and reducing the space available for […]

Monaco: Not really sure what can be done to the track Very much agree. There just isn’t really space to do enough to make it suitable for F1 cars as they are now. The only real option would be modifying the cars…

I don’t think it’s down to having a perfect weekend, it’s down to (subjectively) how well they drove. If you quickly build a pit-stop’s worth of a gap, then keep that position coasting around for the remainder […]

I could see rating Alonso similarly, but I can’t agree about Max. Had he not been so slow in the first 2 sectors of his final qually lap, the gap would have been way more than 7 hundredths, and he looked like he […]

Alonso, maybe. But Max? The only reason he had to put in such an outstanding final sector was that his first 2 were so far down. That doesn’t seem “flawless” to me, it’s more like “a bit of a mistake but he […]

You mean Max hasn’t push in his qual lap? Of course he did, I can’t see where I said he didn’t. I was responding to you saying “he was with medium tyres for 50+ laps which is an achievement”. If your car is t […]

It was an outstanding final sector, I’ll grant that. But what off the first two? He was, iirc, 2 tenths down on Alonso up to that point, even though he was in a significantly faster car. He then coasted for the […]

Had Leclerc been within or close to 5s in the final few laps, it would have made sense for Merc to use team orders. They could have let Russel past and used Hamilton to hold Leclerc back, such that Hamilton was […]

Agreed. Things may be more “entertaining” without hard and fast rules, but they are not sports. It would be more “entertaining” to turn F1 into an event like a TV game show, where the host can just change his […]

We’ve seen it before: If your car is much quicker than the others, you don’t have to push as much and your tyres will last much longer. The RBR is much kinder to its tyres than others, so Max can generally go one […]

He had “poor race pace” because his car is slow. He extracted the maximum possible out of that car this weekend. Max drove a flawless race, but he was mostly driving well within the capabilities of the car. He […]

“Being a road block” is how to do well in Monaco when you qualify well ahead of your car’s pace. He put in a blinder in Qualifying. Given his car’s performance, it could be argued he drove a better lap that […]

drmouse commented on the post, Verstappen pips Alonso to take Monaco Grand Prix pole in qualifying thriller 4 days, 12 hours ago
That’s true in qualifying, but not really in the race. It’s unnecessary for the drivers to get that close to the limit on the race, because nobody is going to get past you on track even if you’re driving well […]

While I agree that those qualifying was more exciting than any race so far this year, I think that’s much more of an indictment of this season than anything else. They should cancel the race in Monaco and just […]

Except we probably will lose some of them. Both Silverstone and Spa have teetered on the edge of disappearing multiple times. Other classic tracks have already dropped off the calendar. When new tracks can get […]

drmouse commented on the post, Leclerc given three-place grid penalty for impeding Norris 5 days ago
Given penalty points mean very little, as stewards refuse to give points which would lead to a ban, I’m not sure why it matters… But I agree, it’s definitely very dangerous!
