Ilanin commented on the post, Hamilton still targeting 'pole' despite 10-place penalty 2 weeks, 4 days ago
I mean, of course he is. There’d be no point in just taking the ICE for a 10-place drop if he was going to start at the back anyway, you might as well just replace the whole engine.
I believe you are. The point of the overtaking award is to create something else for somebody to sponsor.
Ilanin commented on the post, I would have insisted Belgian GP start went ahead – Ecclestone 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Bernie is probably right, he would have done that. That is, after all, what he did in Indianapolis. Doubtless some drivers would have taken the chance at points, and presumably there would have been a major crash […]
Ilanin commented on the post, Handicap-free tyre choice a strength of sprint qualifying format – Brawn 3 months ago
…what on earth is Seidl talking about? Hungary, yes, was not a good circuit for McLaren last year, but given they did well at Monaco and have good traction off of slow corners, they might reasonably hope to do a […]
I wish they’d stop doing that. This is my favourite example of why not to put a speed trap in a braking zone:
Mercedes were running in formation, with Hamilton getting a distant tow from Bottas all qualifying, which will be worth a fair amount on the straights. Christian Horner was….shall we say commenting on this in […]

Ilanin commented on the post, Igora Drive to replace Sochi as home of Russian Grand Prix in 2023 4 months ago
So how’s that fitting in to the calendar then? This year’s Russian GP is on the 26th September, which wouldn’t be frozen or anything in St. Petersburg but it’s definitely colder than F1 usually likes for race weekends.
Ilanin commented on the post, Grosjean's Mercedes test postponed due to travel restrictions 4 months, 1 week ago
There are so many reasons why an F1 race in London is a terrible idea that I’m amazed Sadiq Khan is even suggesting it halfway seriously.
Firstly, would he even have the power to authorise it? I bet he […]

“No, really, we kicked the tyres on this one Max”
“Yeah, so did I.”
Ilanin commented on the post, Norris expects no extraordinary results from McLaren's "rocket" in Baku 4 months, 3 weeks ago
McLaren were spectacularly fast at Monza last year, with Sainz and Norris running just behind Hamilton even before the safety car, but they weren’t that great at Spa, so it’s not clear to me that on a power […]
Ilanin commented on the post, Mercedes still unable to remove wheel from Bottas' car 5 months ago
I don’t see why they’d need to fit a new wheel before FP1 in Baku, though, so we’re looking at a two-week pit stop here….
Ilanin commented on the post, "Bendy" wing rule tweak will cost us a fortune, Vasseur warns 5 months, 1 week ago
Because the regulations explicitly say that aerodynamic bodywork should not be designed to flex and that the FIA is freely allowed to implement any tests it cares to think up to enforce this. Passing the test does […]
While the tracks involved _do_ keep changing, I’m pretty sure it isn’t Imola! Monza?
Participating in it and criticising it aren’t mutually exclusive? I’d definitely prefer to abolish it and still vote for Sam Bird every race since I don’t want him to be at a disadvantage….
…that was severely unimpressive. Would FE please be honest about why Fanboost exists? It’s simple enough – if you’re a new series which desperately needs to grow a fanbase then giving the teams/drivers which […]
I think it’d be reasonable to put Norris into “strugglers”. Once again he didn’t perform when it mattered in Q3, losing three tenths to his best Q2 lap when the average driver in Q3 gained a tenth; if Norris had […]
Ilanin commented on the post, Russell accepts he took too much risk with "team mate of sorts" in Imola crash 6 months ago
Pretty certain the mistake he made was because he was trying too hard not to hit a Mercedes – if it had been any other car he’d not have been trying to leave such a big gap, would have held his line and not put a […]
