James_mc commented on the post, Why F1's return to Imola hasn't been called the 'San Marino Grand Prix' 2 years, 6 months ago
I remember years ago, when the calendar was dominated by European circuits with only 4/5 races in South America, Australia and Japan bookending the season, ITV did a feature on the Benetton (?) team travelling by […]
James_mc commented on the post, Sponsor Watch: 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 8 years, 2 months ago
I recall from one of the recent biographies about Ecclestone, there was a story about how a smaller team sold one-off rights to sponsor the car to a local brewery for one of the USGPs of the mid-1980’s. He was […]

Interestingly, the Ferrari team radio (particularly Alonso’s communiques) is conspicuous by its absence in most transcripts.
James_mc commented on the post, "I really needed this result" – Hamilton 8 years, 7 months ago
Not really – Button has consistently won the Autosport fans-voted award of late, mainly on account of his popularity. I think on the F1F popularity poll he also comes out on top.
I suspect it’s more to do with […]

James_mc commented on the post, Sutil unhappy with another Maldonado incident 9 years, 2 months ago
“
But it’s racing
”
Makes me inclined to think that he is at fault as he’s used this statement in the past in incidents which he should have been assigned significant (if not all) culpability for.
James_mc commented on the post, Senna's death "still haunts" Newey 9 years, 4 months ago
It left a bitter taste in my mouth at the 2011 Belgian GP when Newey commented that he was worried for the safety of his drivers due to blistered tyres. However given that it was his team’s decision to run the […]
James_mc commented on the post, Massa 'used to speculation over Ferrari future' 9 years, 5 months ago
Sutil (and Di Resta) were both taking perfectly normal/acceptable lines through the final double-hairpin.
Maldo having been forced wide by Guitierrez then came back across the track clipping Sutil. Yes he was […]

Couldn’t see it posted above – Romain Grosjean completed a full racing lap of Spa for the first time in F1!
In 2009 he collided with Alguesari/Hamilton/Button (not necessarily his fault) and in 2012 he […]
James_mc commented on the post, Drivers to raise questions over grid grooves 9 years, 5 months ago
Interesting. Depending on how the tyre deforms and to what level and bonds with the track at a semi-molten state when hot, I think it could potentially increase grip, which would be advantageous at the […]

Ah yes. The same Toto Wolff who left Williams to work for the Mercedes F1 team?

Hmmm. It does look very slick, which I guess is a good thing.
However I have my distinct reservations about the following:
1) – Portrayal of Hunt as the heroic, handsome charismatic Anglophone battling the […]James_mc commented on the post, Top ten pictures from the 2013 British Grand Prix 9 years, 7 months ago

James_mc commented on the post, Rosberg keeps win after yellow flag reprimand 9 years, 7 months ago
Two factors at play I think. Firstly, the drivers will likely to have been driving to a “delta” or target time and therefore slower therefore lessening the effect of going through the pits.
Secondly, due to the […]

Interesting, Ferrari obviously got away with the potentially unsafe release of Alonso. It was borderline to be fair.

Webber. In my opinion, Webber spent most of his prime years in a poor Williams or building up Red Bull. Massa however spent his in a decent Ferrari.
James_mc commented on the post, Di Resta sent to back of grid as car fails weight check 9 years, 7 months ago
It is pretty unlucky. Given last year he also put in a great performance and then was hampered in the race by misfortune you do have to feel for the guy!
James_mc commented on the post, Pirelli wants solution to testing with "obsolete" cars 9 years, 7 months ago
Is it too simplistic to suggest that Alan Henry’s article on the McLaren website is a way of slowly introducing fans to the fact that McLaren aren’t going to be silver-and-red as they’ve been for the past 10-ish years?
