Matthijs commented on the post, Transcript: Why Ferrari told Leclerc 'the hard is worse than expected' but still used it 2 days, 14 hours ago
@todfod I don’t think your criticism is 100% fair. Yes, Ferrari had a terrible strategy, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
You say Ferrari had 3 choices to win the race. Soft-Medium-Medium, Medium-Soft-Medium […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Stroll 'caught me by surprise hitting the brakes again' at final corner – Vettel 1 week, 5 days ago
I am curious why Stroll was ahead of Vettel in the first place. He overtook Vettel on the first lap with surprising ease, as if Vettel was on cold tyres (which is unlikely with the high track temperature). Was […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Leclerc's sprint race pace shows a Verstappen victory is no done deal in Austria 4 weeks ago
So what this article is explaining is that the Red Bull and Ferrari are quite evenly matched. But this is the case for the entire season so far. There has not been a single race that either Red Bull or Ferrari […]
Matthijs commented on the post, F1 fans capture astonishing first-hand videos of Zhou's huge Silverstone crash 1 month ago
With little friction I mean: in order to slow down you must have a big contact patch to scrub off speed. With a car upside down, it has a very small portion of the car touching the ground.
Matthijs commented on the post, F1 fans capture astonishing first-hand videos of Zhou's huge Silverstone crash 1 month ago
Russell was right, the gap between the fence and the tyre barrier should be investigated. It should be either bigger so that the driver can get out of the car, or smaller so that the car doesn’t get stuck behind […]
Matthijs commented on the post, F1 fans capture astonishing first-hand videos of Zhou's huge Silverstone crash 1 month ago
The car was upside down, so there was little friction to stop the car. Whether there was gravel or asphalt runoff, it had little effect. However, it is very striking how little the car slowed down between the […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Sainz seizes his chance for first win as rivals luck out on day of drama 1 month ago
It also showed what a strong character he is inside the cockpit. For all Ferrari’s indecisions, Sainz comes across as very sure of himself inside the car. The way he talks to the team and a lot of the times d […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Masi did make mistake with title-deciding Abu Dhabi GP restart, Horner admits 1 month, 1 week ago
@3dom I agree, the third race of the season would have ended under SC. But you say ‘he’ ruined it. But who is to say that the FIA and the teams didn’t argue beforehand that deciding the championship under SC […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Alpine disagree with Alonso's penalty for weaving on the final lap 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I think there should be a difference between weaving to break the tow and weaving to prevent an overtake. It sounds similar, but the first one is when there clearly is room between the two cars and the second one […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Hard tyres may have been wrong choice for final attack on Verstappen – Sainz 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Ah, it is reveiled that they didn’t have any mediums left. Otherwise it would have been a no-brainer.
But with the Saturday completely washed out, how could they have run out of mediums of Friday alone? Were […]
Matthijs commented on the post, 2022 Canadian Grand Prix interactive data: lap charts, times and tyres 1 month, 2 weeks ago
@bosyber I think after lap 20 the difference between Alonso’s old medium tyres versus the new hard tyres of the drivers around him are getting bigger and bigger. In hindsight it was a wrong call to leave Alonso […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Verstappen grabs pole as Alonso stuns with second in wet qualifying 1 month, 2 weeks ago
@johnrkh I thought I (also) saw the opposite. You are as good as you car is in the rain. Personally I never believed in ‘rain is the great equalizer’. When your car does not work in the rain you are nowhere. Tak […]
Matthijs commented on the post, Gasly praises FIA for quick response to drivers' health concerns over porpoising 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Quotes from Guenther Steiner from the Guenther Steiner article:
Yes, it’s a safety factor, but that could be approached as well. If it is too dangerous, just raise your ride height. But then you go slow. Who w […]Matthijs commented on the post, Perez signs new, two-year Red Bull deal 2 months, 1 week ago
Observant viewers of the race found out that this deal was signed just before the race actually. We saw Christian Horner and Perez walking towards the podium, with Sergio joking ‘I signed too soon eh!’ :)
Matthijs commented on the post, Leclerc leads Ferrari one-two in busy start to practice in Spain 2 months, 2 weeks ago
@marcusaurelius
Yes, but on the other hand they both were 3 seconds off the pace, quite big for Williams 2022. So I don’t think you can read too much into these times. I expect (expecially) Albon to go a lot quicker in FP2.Matthijs commented on the post, De Vries to run first practice for Williams in Spain 2 months, 3 weeks ago
I do like the idea, but we all know that inexperienced drivers make mistakes and the risk of crashing the car that the main driver needs for the Sunday-race is too big I’m afraid. This could only work when there […]
Matthijs commented on the post, De Vries to run first practice for Williams in Spain 2 months, 3 weeks ago
The decision to run De Vries comes after Williams CEO Jost Capito admitted that he had been considered for a potential race seat for 2022, before the team instead opted to sign Alex Albon to the seat.
I think it […]Matthijs replied to the topic Seeing a lot of ads in the forum

Matthijs commented on the post, Miami chicane may be tweaked for future races after driver complaints 2 months, 4 weeks ago
Drivers voiced concerns over the slow chicane and its surrounding barriers, where Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon suffered heavy crashes.
To be precise, Sainz and Ocon didn’t crash in the chicane but in the corner […]Matthijs commented on the post, Perez was "very close" to retiring from race after sensor fault on cylinder 3 months ago
@grapmg I am sorry if I wasn’t clear with my comment. I was indeed agreeing with you :) In the conversation with his engineer, you could almost hear Perez thinking “I don’t care that you think everything is fine, […]
