nordmann commented on the post, Has closer racing in 2022 shown Formula 1 can live without DRS now? 4 months, 2 weeks ago
The question itself is misleading IMHO. The real question is whether it is OK to allow DRS to be used automatically, instead of strategically. iRacing has a wonderful concept that could easily be adopted in F1: […]
nordmann commented on the post, Bring back one-lap qualifying to stop drivers getting in each others' way – Alonso 7 months, 4 weeks ago
They could tweak the current format by a handicap system in Q1, whereby those ahead in the championship get fewer runs than those in the back (maybe the first five getting just one run each, 6-10 two runs etc). […]

Hmmm, makes me wonder: do you achieve Grand Chelem if you don’t take pole but inherit it (eg the driver on pole gets a grid penalty)?
nordmann commented on the post, Perez 'not looking forward to Monaco' in new 2022 cars 10 months, 3 weeks ago
Whilst completely agreeing with the COTD in principle, as an amateur kart racer I know that a rulebook on the rules of engagement is not as simple as agreeing to the track limits. For instance, there is a huge […]

Indeed, plus I read that rain is on its way this year to iRacing – can’t wait!
nordmann commented on the post, Pirelli expect one-stop strategies at "most races" in 2022 1 year, 1 month ago
Well in that case the move to 18 inch was totally pointless, as the aesthetic effect is completely negated by the fairings. I mean if you look at the wheels as they are, then they surely look better (or at least […]

Spot on!
nordmann commented on the post, The problems of perception the FIA must address after the Abu Dhabi row 1 year, 1 month ago
This is disappointing from @dieterrencken . Basically, he asserts that the rules (and therefore ultimately the teams, which have approved of these) are to blame, and Masi just followed these rules (because […]

Funny how you should forget about Spa – another deliberate decision which unfairly favoured Verstappen. Otherwise I agree with your analysis @keithcollantine
nordmann commented on the post, Did F1 race control make correct decision over last-lap restart? 1 year, 1 month ago
Since when is standard procedure to let half of the lapped cars overtake? Since when is standard procedure to NOT wait a lap after the last lapped cars have gone through? Do you actually have any precedents for these ?
nordmann commented on the post, Did F1 race control make correct decision over last-lap restart? 1 year, 1 month ago
Exactly. Masi’s decision didn’t only affect Lewis. And due to the same reason, Verstappen didn’t even have to look into his mirrors when attacking Lewis.
nordmann commented on the post, Race control's "strange" decision on lapped cars nearly cost me podium – Sainz 1 year, 1 month ago
It also meant that Verstappen didn’t even have to check his mirrors when going after Lewis as Sainz was barred from attacking him. All the implications of Masi’s decision are just horrendous.

So it’s OK to lobby for backmarkers to pass (once the decision has been made not to let them), but it’s wrong to lobby for no SC?

I said it before, I’ll say it again: Masi is simply not up for the job. Wish Charlie was still around. Seems he is irreplacable. :(

A five sec penalty would have hardly swung the championship imho

Now we can truly appreciate what a great figure Charlie Whiting really was… :-(
nordmann commented on the post, Perez's performance "really coming together" at Red Bull – Horner 1 year, 9 months ago
COTD seems to be an insult to Verstappen. Also it does not make much sense. How or why would “thinking long term” for Verstappen, or even for Red Bull the desire to win this year’s title mean that he somehow lets […]

Guys/girls, I’m not very good at F1 history, but isn’t this somehow related to the proportions of the bit of track cropped vs. the one that remains? With the Nordschleife being the longest bit to be omitted […]
