Cool
Patrickl commented on the post, Who's winning the F1 team mate battles of 2018 so far? 4 years ago
@esploratore So Raikkonen made a mistake and Vettel made a mistake and Raikkonen finished ahead. It’s a bit of a stretch, but he did perform better overall didn’t he?
Not sure why Germany wasn’t added to that […]
Patrickl commented on the post, Ricciardo: Leaving Red Bull for Renault "one of the most difficult decisions I've taken" 4 years ago
True. Who knows, Renault finally might finally get it right for 2021 and Ricciardo could be in the right spot.
Besides, most people thought Hamilton was crazy to go to Mercedes which finished in P5 for 2012. […]
Patrickl commented on the post, Why Ricciardo's obvious replacement may not get the gig 4 years ago
@edmarques Yeah that does sound like a great “experiment”.
I doubt that Alonso would wish to drive a Honda powered car again though. Or that Honda would like a Honda powered car to be driven by Alonso.
Patrickl commented on the post, Ricciardo: Leaving Red Bull for Renault "one of the most difficult decisions I've taken" 4 years ago
I wonder how much of this decision was influenced by that stunt Red Bull pulled blaming him in part for Baku. I can imagine that would have soured him to Red Bull too.

It’s unlikely Honda will beat Ferrari and Mercedes before 2021 though. So it’s not like he has a lot to lose by not staying there.
Patrickl commented on the post, Mercedes may delay engine upgrade again as it tries to understand Ferrari's breakthrough 4 years ago
Well Ferrari did lose some pace after their oil burning system was banned in Baku. Yet they should still have won Singapore, Malaysia and Japan on chassis/aero and then didn’t.
Patrickl commented on the post, Mercedes may delay engine upgrade again as it tries to understand Ferrari's breakthrough 4 years ago
@todfod Exactly. Reaching the finish is more important now than ever.
Last season Ferrari was on the back foot after they lost their oil burning system in Baku and then were further compromised by Vettel losing […]
Patrickl commented on the post, What Perez's shock decision tells us about Force India's uncertain future 4 years ago
You are comparing Sylt’s 2016 amounts (still featuring Manor) with the amounts I calculated for 2018. That means different bonuses and different prize money fund amounts. He also rounds to the nearest ten million. […]
Patrickl commented on the post, Mercedes beat Ferrari's unofficial Hungaroring record as test ends 4 years ago
@thegianthogweed Heh, true.
Though Sauber get the same 2018 spec Ferrari engine. They also share the same rear suspension and gear box (and perhaps other parts). So they are already up to date on a lot of […]
Patrickl commented on the post, Formula 1 teams' prize money payments for 2018 revealed 4 years ago
@phil-f1-21 Indeed paying Ferrari $90 million just because they are Ferrari is a bit much, but apparently Ferrari has a budget of $570 million as reported in their yearly figures. Mercedes and Red Bull also have […]
Patrickl commented on the post, What Perez's shock decision tells us about Force India's uncertain future 4 years ago
@ anon, Christian Sylt uses the same figures I posted.
I simply left out the extra bonuses (including CCB) since these are not part of the prize money anyway.
There are two things going wrong
1) Dieter […]Patrickl commented on the post, What Perez's shock decision tells us about Force India's uncertain future 4 years ago
@silfen Well I saw some buzz about them perhaps losing their prize money, but could have just been a misunderstanding yes.

@thegianthogweed Heh yes, the opening like says:
Pierre Gasly, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel were RaceFans’ Star Performers of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Here’s why.
And then goes on to explain why Gas […]Patrickl commented on the post, What Perez's shock decision tells us about Force India's uncertain future 4 years ago
The information that is sorely lacking in this article is that Perez’ actions most likely will have cost Force India their prize money. Making it more likely for them to go under.
Patrickl commented on the post, What Perez's shock decision tells us about Force India's uncertain future 4 years ago
@robbie Sylt already corrected Dieter on his incorrect numbers in 2015 so I don’t have to ask him to do that again.
BTW, There also is Joe Saward doing the same exercise, but with pictures. Perhaps that is […]
Patrickl commented on the post, What Perez's shock decision tells us about Force India's uncertain future 4 years ago
@robbie Yeah hilarious. I saw that when it went up. Was actually wondering if I should ask him to actually fact check that article remark on bonuses.
Rather funny that in fact Dieter’s numbers are so far off […]
Patrickl commented on the post, Formula 1 teams' prize money payments for 2018 revealed 4 years ago
@robbie Well I’m trying to do something about this agenda yes.
Keith is writing great articles. Especially when he’s writing on his own. His race analysis of Hungary was a prime example of how something like […]
Patrickl commented on the post, Formula 1 teams' prize money payments for 2018 revealed 4 years ago
@bleu Ah yeah, sometimes they run out of money and want it sooner. Hmm not sure what is fair there though. I can imagine other teams wouldn’t want to pay a party that might go under money upfront.
Patrickl commented on the post, Formula 1 teams' prize money payments for 2018 revealed 4 years ago
Heh nase , thanks I guess.
I know I have little patience with people who don’t listen to facts/reason. I give people two tries before I turn sour on them though. Dieter so far has had more than a dozen chance […]
