Velocityboy commented on the post, Whatever triggered it, Verstappen's defiance of his own team makes little sense 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Like everyone else I don’t think this reflects well on Max. But for me this is a test of Horner’s leadership. Vettel ignored his orders and now Max. If Horner is any kind of leader he’d sit Max down, explain that […]

Velocityboy commented on the post, Was Verstappen's penalty for Hamilton collision correct? 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Hamilton left a car widths room. In that corner being on the inside and leaving your opponent a car widths room means that the only way your opponent can get through the corner is to lift and pull in behind. […]

Velocityboy commented on the post, Haas has chosen Magnussen's team mate for 2023 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Like most, I think Mick is out. He seems to be a driver who gets better as the seasons go on, which means he willing and able to learn. His people should try to get him in to a team where he can stay in the […]

Velocityboy commented on the post, Is there a 'sprint' format which can satisfy both the purists and the bean-counters? 6 months, 3 weeks ago
For me the solution is to get rid of parc ferme after qualifying and to give the teams more freedom with tire selection. I’ve said this numerous times, lining cars up fastest to slowest and then now allowing the […]

I wouldn’t be on board with it.

Velocityboy commented on the post, Verstappen "will continue to break records for the rest of his career" – rivals 7 months ago
If he has the courage to go to a different team, then all one can say is we’ll see. For me, being great at more than one team is one of the things I expect from an all time great.

Velocityboy commented on the post, Red Bull fined $7 million and lose development time for 2021 budget cap breach 7 months ago
I think a lot of people are missing the bigger picture. Once it was established that RBR exceeded the cost cap, the FIA had a choice, make the penalty so severe no team would ever exceed the cap again, or levy a […]

Velocityboy commented on the post, Red Bull fined $7 million and lose development time for 2021 budget cap breach 7 months ago
It may be when the cost cap died, as I’d imagine the other big teams are now deciding whether to adhere to it or not.

Teams that make parts 3mm out of compliance aren’t necessarily being intentionally dishonest and yet are penalized harshly just the same. That argument doesn’t work in F1. Or at least it didn’t.

Velocityboy commented on the post, Red Bull fined $7 million and lose development time for 2021 budget cap breach 7 months ago
Like many others I find the penalty lenient and pathetic. To try to mitigate the penalty by saying that because RBR didn’t knowingly attempt to violate the rules is disingenuous at best. If a team mistakenly makes […]

Velocityboy commented on the post, Red Bull exceeded F1's $145m budget cap during 2021 season – FIA 7 months, 3 weeks ago
it’s pointless (no pun intended) to try to say that a minor infraction could not have had a major impact on the car’s performance. F1 is an intellectual endeavor and as such a small breach in the cost cap could […]

Velocityboy commented on the post, Hamilton "definitely" planning longer stay in F1 after tough 2022 campaign 8 months, 1 week ago
Exactly. He’s making millions per year doing something he loves at one of the best teams in F1. They’d have to drag me away with the proverbial wild horses!

Velocityboy commented on the post, FIA approves record 24-race F1 calendar for 2023 including races in China and Monaco 8 months, 2 weeks ago
Great for fans, probably sucks for the teams. The teams really need to press to have the calendar put together in a way that minimizes travel time and distance. Coming to the Americas three times makes no sense.

Velocityboy commented on the post, Vote for your 2022 Italian Grand Prix Driver of the Weekend 8 months, 3 weeks ago
I voted for DeVries, but came close to voting for Mick just for his overtake of Latifi into turn 1. We don’t often get to see a proper tire smoking yet controlled overtaking maneuver anymore.

Velocityboy commented on the post, Verstappen blames social media companies as strategist Schmitz receives hate messages 8 months, 3 weeks ago
It’s not hard to understand where the conspiracy theories come from. The actions of AT seemed to be inconsistent with what was later explained. How could the team not know there was a serious problem at the back […]

Velocityboy commented on the post, Hamilton to start at back of grid as Mercedes replace damaged Spa engine 8 months, 3 weeks ago
Agreed. So many of the current rules, especially those introduced for cost cutting measures can go away and be covered by the cost cap. If you can use 20 engines per year and stay within the cost cap, more power […]

I can’t believe Latifi is still driving for Williams. He must have brought a ton of money or he has pictures. Albon is showing what a good driver in the car could do and is making Latifi look like pathetic.

Velocityboy commented on the post, 'I can't believe you guys screwed me': Hamilton fumes at team on radio after defeat 9 months ago
Exactly. For years we’ve heard Merc say they do a team strategy and their strategy is designed for the best result for the team. This clearly wasn’t the case, as doing the same with both cars would have been the […]
