Steve Rogers commented on the post, 2020 F1 driver rankings #11: Kevin Magnussen 2 years, 2 months ago
Rereading it I can see why’d you think that. But if that was the case my top 10 would be a mirror of the bottom and trust me it isn’t . I admit for Albon and Vettel I got lazy just putting in a reference to their […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, 2020 F1 driver rankings #11: Kevin Magnussen 2 years, 2 months ago
Normally don’t do my own lists because I mostly agree with Keith, but this year I have some big differences so why not, here’s my bottom half of the rankings:
11-Grosjean
12-Magnussen
I couldn’t split the Haas […]Steve Rogers commented on the post, Electrification and lower-carbon fuels are right direction for F1 – Mercedes 2 years, 2 months ago
Thanks Robert, exactly my point.
Also @tonymansell this wouldn’t be new for F1. At the end of the 80’s we had Turbo V6’s, naturally aspirated V8′ and in-line 4’s all racing against each other. possible because […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Electrification and lower-carbon fuels are right direction for F1 – Mercedes 2 years, 2 months ago
I can get behind the argument that F1 can be used to speed up the development of cleaner engine technology through competition, but that is completely undermined by the rules specifying what those solutions will […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Team mate battles 2020: The final score – Hamilton vs Bottas 2 years, 3 months ago
Decent driver and nice chap but never a world champion
Until this year I would of disagreed with this, just because if Hamilton retired he would be the experienced driver at Mercedes. But based on this year I […]Steve Rogers commented on the post, Steiner didn't want to give drivers "stupid presents" as parting gifts 2 years, 3 months ago
Similar to the COTD, the formula1 youtube channel now has a video of the post race radio messages from all drivers. For those interested pay close attention to Albon’s, to me it doesn’t sound like someone getting […]

*Thursday Morning in Abu Dhabi*
TW: C’mon Bottas tell me what’s wrong
VB: You know what’s wrong you been going behind my back spending all that time with George
TW: We’ve been over this, it was just for work. Y […]Steve Rogers commented on the post, 2020 Bahrain and Sakhir Grand Prix Star Performers 2 years, 3 months ago
I think Bottas deserves to be in the strugglers for both. In Bahrain he failed to make the progress through the field you’d expect after the puncture especially compared to Perez who a week later Having fallen to […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, How Russell nearly avoided his race-losing pit stop – and the 'smoking gun' behind it 2 years, 3 months ago
Yes @f1osaurus, but stay ahead of him he did. And he managed despite the disadvantages of having older medium tyres, a Racing Point that in qualifying was 0.4s a lap slower than Mercedes and being Lance […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, How Russell nearly avoided his race-losing pit stop – and the 'smoking gun' behind it 2 years, 3 months ago
Wait, Bottas’ tyres were fresher than Perez’s, 8 newer than Ocon’s and 7 laps newer than the mediums on Stroll?! What possible excuse does he have for dropping down the order so rapidly after the safety car!!
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Formula 2 and 3's new three-race weekend formats announced 2 years, 3 months ago
Ah, but say there are 3-4 drivers in a league of their own (often the case these days) Then using pole to try and get a win while they’re back in traffic makes more sense point wise than maximising your potential […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Formula 2 and 3's new three-race weekend formats announced 2 years, 3 months ago
Honestly I was assuming this was the case which is why I suggested the heat system. Otherwise I’d just say leave it as it is, if it ain’t broke, and use the extra time to showcase a national series, the W series or similiar
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Formula 2 and 3's new three-race weekend formats announced 2 years, 3 months ago
I hate it. Overly complicated and just asking for competitors to “game the system” such as targeting 8-12th in qualifying or holding place in 12th in Race 1 instead of attacking as pole would be more beneficial […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Is Hamilton's praise for Bottas's performance backed up by the data? 2 years, 3 months ago
However the crucial difference to last year is their share of points. By this decisive metric Bottas is doing slightly better.
Umm… am I missing something? Using the numbers in the article last year he scored […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Hamilton: Bottas deserves more credit than he gets 2 years, 4 months ago
Drivers I believe would comfortly beat Bottas (same car same reliability score 50% more points than him over the season):
Leclerc, Verstappen, Riccardo, Hamilton (I know some seasons they’ve been closer than this […]Steve Rogers commented on the post, AlphaTauri confirm Gasly will drive for them again in 2021 2 years, 4 months ago
This pretty much confirms to me that Red Bull believe Gasly and Albon’s issues are not just down to the driver, otherwise why not promote Gasly again he’s been consistently one of the stand out drivers this year […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Perez had approach from rival F1 team following Vettel-to-Aston Martin rumours 2 years, 8 months ago
If Racing Point/Aston Martin believe they can build a car within 0.1-0.2s of the quickest out there in the next 2 years, then they should go with Seb. For all his faults Vettel can be very quick and in this […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Is an F1 comeback with Renault a realistic option for Alonso? 2 years, 10 months ago
For a slightly different take on these discussion, where would this leave Ocon. He is still managed by Mercedes, loaned out to Renault to continue his development as a possible replacement for Bottas or Hamilton. […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, Official: Ferrari confirm Sainz as Vettel's replacement for 2021 2 years, 10 months ago
I believe these moves make a lot of sense and will result in some good driver pairings, a win-win all round (except for Renault). However I’m disappointed how quickly silly season seems to have resolved itself, so […]
Steve Rogers commented on the post, My F1 Cars: Derek Warwick on the wins that got away 2 years, 11 months ago
I feel its quite common to reflect on driver’s careers and say they deserved better or with better luck they could have been race winners. But this article reminded me it could also be said for some teams like […]
