Official five-disc DVD box set for Schumacher fans?

Formula One Management appear to be planning a special DVD box set commemorating Michael Schumacher’s five world championships for Ferrari.

My Italian’s not so hot (in fact it’s non-existent) but this report on La Gazzetta dello Sport appears to indicate a five DVD special covering the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 world championships is being produced.

It also looks like Kimi Raikkonen’s championship-winning season will get a two-disc set.

I’m trying to find out if they’re definitely happening and if so, I’ll be reviewing them here as soon as they are available.

The 2002 season is not currently available on DVD, and 2000 and 2001 only had unofficial releases. See below for reviews.

  1. 2007 season getting a two-disc set would be great.

And having 2000 and 2002 on DVD would be great too, my DVD recordings of the VHS tapes are getting abandoned…

  2. Wouldn’t a REALLY great tribute be to make every race Schumi took part in downloadable/purchasable from the official site? Please? Pretty please Bernie?

No? Oh well. Worth a try.

  3. Yes, yes, yes!!! But since I have the 03 and 04 reviews already, I hope I can buy the 2000-2002 DVDs separately. But Keith, just to make things clear. Based on what I read (with a little translation from Google), the 5-disc Schumi DVD set is to be distributed EXCLUSIVELY by La Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy in Italian (As you can see, their logo is at the back of the box in the pic). Commentary will be done by their Italian Sky Sports commentator. I’m not so sure if someone will pick it up outside of Italy.

I already pre-purchased the 2007 DVD, and yes, it is a 2-disc set. For US and Asia fans, the 2007 DVD is also available on as a Region 1 DVD for $21. sells it as a Region 2 DVD.

  4. Well that’s a silly decision. It’s not as if Schumacher’s short of English-speaking fans. Thanks for the translation work though!

  5. Yes Robert, that would fill the void left by the legend, I would love that, a chance to relive the greatness. God I miss him!

  6. Hi! I’m Italian!
I don’t speak english very well (I’m only 14), but I try to translate you the text.

From Schumi to Raikkonen, six F1 championship in (edicola) (news-stand ?)
From 26 November the double DVD about the last championship won by Ferrari: unknown parts, camera cars and team radios spread for the first time by “Gazzetta dello Sport”. There’s not only this DVD, but every week until 31 December all the Ferrari’s win between 2000-2004.

MILANO, 22 NOVEMBER 2007 – Let’s come back to San Paolo, on 21 October 2007: the impossible dream come true. Kimi Raikkonen, at his first season with Ferrari, winning the last GP of the season, overtakes the deb Hamilton and the defending champion Alonso in the final standings. On the finish line is double with the 2° of Felipe Massa. Kimi Raikkonen is the new F1 world champion.

I’m not able to translate what is wrote next.
It’s the first time I write a comment, I wish I have help you!

  7. Thanks for the help Stefano!

  8. “Gazzetta” will focus on 2000-2004 and 2007 seasons, using the F1 official DVD images adding Italian comment. It’s a good initiative but to be honest I’m not so happy for the decision of cutting away the 2005 and 2006 season. As F1 fan, I rated those season pretty interesting. The fact is that “Gazzetta” do not think the same and it’s only interested in those seasons in which Ferrari win titles…

  9. Thanks, Vittorio? Any chance the FIA will re-release the 2000-2002 seasons on DVD in English? Oh well.
