Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello were among the F1 stars racing in the 500 Milhas de Kart Granja Viana 2008 this weekend.
Barrichello won the race for a record eighth time – while Massa proved his reliability problems in 2008 weren’t just confined to his Ferrari. Here’s a selection of videos from the race:

More footage from the race:
Barrichello won in a kart shared with ex-Jaguar/Prost F1 racer Luciano Burti and IRL star Tony Kanaan. Massa finished third, sharing his kart with brother Eduardo and ex-GP2 race Xandhi Negrao. Christian Fittipaldi, Raul Boesel and Antonio Pizzonia were among the other ex-F1 drivers participating in the race.
Felipe Massa usually runs a karting race of his own during the F1 off-season which many Brazilian motor racing star compete in, and Michael Schumacher has also appeared at.
The final results haven’t been posted on the official website for the race yet but you can see some the rankings here. If anyone has more information about this event please post it below.

This should be the new “low cost” formula one. You can see the drivers working, and there’s plenty of room for sponsors.

This is a traditional race here. I know that Massa had problems and started from 12th, so he is probably happy with a 3rd place and Piquet Jr got disqualified for getting into a verbal fight with a steward who was giving him a penalty.
BTW, Piquet got in the news during the weekend after telling the brazilian press at the event that he was pretty sure that Bruno Senna would get a seat at Honda because he was much faster and more well-prepared for F1 than Di Grassi. I guess whatever happened inside Renault before Piquet was finally annouced must not have being pretty.
